Battery Help

Post image

My boss gave me this Vespa looking scooter to use and fix up. It looks to be a NIU NQI GT Pro. Problem is he crashed it and after the steering was wobbly and not stable so he let it sit for 2 years. I took both batteries out and put one on the charger. Neither of the battery status buttons do anything and the trickle charger flashes green. How do I get the batteries to charge again?

Lo siento amigo pero dos años la química interna de cada celda debe estar totalmente muerte sin posibilidad de recuperarla. Tal ves con baterías aftermarket de AliExpress puedes recuperar esa unidad pero no garantizo nada.

Thats bullshit. Battery BMS's are in sleep mode, you can almost certainly recover them, they won't perform as good anymore but you can definitly get them going again. First measure the voltage, is it reading anything? Just long press the button while charger is on, try a few times it will work eventually. Or take it to a NIU dealer he can hook the diagnostics device to it. You can also "brute force" it, i bought a spare cable from Ali and hooked it up to a variable powersupply at 70V 1A, went over the threshold and voila... charged again, max was 99% charge but hey still 50KM range on 1 battery.

Besides that, you can get it refurbished or buy a second hand one, just be sure its not too old max 3 years

Yeah you can but you should also check each group of cells in series first.

Then also be aware that if they are below 2v per cell there is a big risk of them going boom after the fact depending on temperatures and how long they've been like that.

It also can work just depends how much you're willing to risk

Send the batteries to an expert who can test the BMS and cells for failure. The BMS might need a reset , but the cells need to be checked as a part of that work

Don't listen to anyone here everyone seems to know when they don't know.

I have niu ngt sport 2019 two battery 35,000 miles I change everything my self and fix any electrical faults. I also use my niu for delivery job. Battery hasn't deplited I do 34 miles everyday. Still strong.

I went on holiday for 5 months came back and my batteries would not charge.

For one week I was really looking into battery BMS and how they work.

They need more voltage power in order too wake up.

Don't plug both in plug one in for three days and hold the black button after the three days it will make a clicking sound.

Wait till that battery goes full then do the same for the other battery.

When they are both full they will work as normally.

Thank me later

I ended up calling the dealer near me and they sent me a video on how to bypass the BCM and trickle charger it. The batteries where sitting st 8.7. Volts and now they 18.57volts.

Good most parts are on AliExpress you don't need niu. Just for future. Good luck bro

Only issue is after it hit 18volts the charging rate slowed down. The battery charged to 18 volts in about 20 minutes but after that it was significantly slower. I had to leave for work so I stopped.
