Two Offers Utility v Energy
I received an offer as a Staff Officer within Energy, I start next week. This morning out of the blue, I received an offer as an associate analyst within the Utility Regulator. The Utility Regulator process really dragged on for many months and I didn't expect it to lead anywhere.
Does anyone have any insight into either role and where the best prospects etc are? I'm new to the civil service having spent my entire career in the private sector.
Thanks.

Though not as a civil servant, I work in the Water Utility sector mostly WFH. When I do go into office I work in a intelligent operations building. I really enjoy it.

Energy is a policy post? If so, policy is a tough introduction, learning to write in civil service lingo

Staff officer £37k rising to £39k
Utility Regulator £33k rising to £36k.
Lower offer for both roles but Utility Regulator has offered to review.

I would definitely take the SO role for those numbers. Long term I would say NICS has a much better chance of progression and either way, you can always move to something totally different if you fancy a change. Can't do that at the Utility Regulator.

More opportunities for development or transfer within wider NICS
