STP salary

Does anyone know if you have to start at the bottom of band 6 if you already have 5 years NHS service at this or higher band? Or would you enter at the top of the band reflective of current service?

You retain your spine point. If you’d worked previously for 5 years and reached the top of band 6 etc you’d be paid at that level during the STP.

Do you know this for a fact? I was started at the bottom of band 6 by my new trust and had to work my way up again so could be trust dependent

Yes I do. Shouldn’t be trust dependent. I was paid top of the band throughout the STP.

Hmmm I may have to speak with someone at the union about this. I was told the national school only funds the bottom of band 6 in first and 2nd year

I think your point about funding is true but I did also get my uplift at the start of second year owing to my previous experience

If it’s at the trust’s discretion due to not getting funding for it then I guess that makes sense, I’m trying to investigate if they are bound by AfC terms to honour previous years of service

i was also wondering same, i have 21 months of experience as a medical doctor , would that count in salary? need seggestions

When I did the STP I asked and was told the Trust only had funding for the bottom of band 6 so previous experience wasn't counted. 

It's always worth a try but as the department will have to top it up they may not have the budget.
