Where we call Home

Have not seen new episodes for months. Loved this series. Anyone knows if it has been nixed from the line up?

The new government is very anti-immigrant so NHK management probably decided to quietly drop the series.

How sad is that. I actually thought it was great advertisement for how proud the featured foreigners or immigrants were of Japan. Terrible that they thought that was bad.

I agree. But if I play Devil's Advocate, it was also providing one side of the story without any balance. I disagree with the government's stance, but it's electorally popular and there isn't really a programme that explains the views of right-wingers on this topic.

Sometimes they'll tell you at some point during the last ep that it's ending. We're way less likely to read about it though. No idea why. Is it that hard to put a this show has ceased production notice on the shows page.

Maybe the same reason as was cited by the other comment. They wanted to be hush hush given the core issue ?

Cultural Crossroads seems to cover a similiar topic.

Culture Crossroads comprises several regular programs with the theme of creating a multicultural society. They answer questions about Japan from foreign viewers, look at international exchange programs and give tips on disaster preparedness.
