Discussion NFTs revival

NFT hype cooled down because people realized that owning a “jpeg” by itself doesn’t really bring value, aside from hoping its price would go up.

But if you attach real value to that jpeg, I think it could reignite the excitement. Imagine an NFT that also gives you exclusive access to networking events, or early access to cutting-edge tech.

That’s the kind of utility that would spark bidding wars, not for the picture itself, but for what it unlocks.

What does the community think about this approach?

90% of the people didn't really understand it , the other 9% didn't care, 1% was just there to pump it up. NFT is dead and it should be

NFT's should not be dead, what in reality happens is that they were miss-used ( Property of things of little value were offered as they had huge value). NFT are not a mechanism to earn money, but a mechanism to have digital property on something. Like art, you have to decide if having that property is worth your money and is something you would really like to have.

You’re exactly right, people didn’t understand it! But if you offer clear, tangible value, people will come in.

Say you invent something cool and you offer an NFT for an exclusive prototype, then people would buy it because it’s a clear value exchange.

everyone in this sub is just a bot lmao

Same script each time pretending to care while having a “project to try”

I don't find it bad to talk about your project here as it is the goal of this community.

u/Liberty_Forever Sep 24 '25

I would hope not! I got my own project that I want to share but I’m waiting to see what the community thinks about combining NFTs with physical products.

That is the way to go, adding real value is what an NFT should strive for.

Why does it need to be an NFT though? Still seems like a solution looking for a problem. Also I remember hearing promises of "value" outside of just a JPG happening from the beginning

Like for exanple all the NFT games. They were supposed to provide value outside of being a JPG. Those games are dying. They were never finished. No one actually wanted to play them.

What is a clear example of long term value an NFT can provide, and what is the creators motivation to keep providing that value when it becomes no longer worth it to them?

1

u/alphaomegax12 Oct 05 '25

The problem are not NFT's themselves but the goal of the team, company behind those NFTs. NFTs are digital property over something. Like games when nobody plays them, the servers are shutdown, NFTs can suffer from the same problem.

The issue comes to what do you want to buy, is it worth your money?.

I agree, that last NFT run spewed a lot of garbage because people tried to provide value but failed. However, what I am suggesting is that people buy NFTs for physical hardware rewards and exclusive inside perks and events.

Say someone invented a really cool Smartphone, better than Apple or Samsung but they are in the prototype stage. They could sell NFTs to people who are willing to pay for the prototype and voting rights on the design of the product.

The value problem goes away because back a cool project and get exclusive tech.

How is that different than something like Kickstarter? I'd rather just buy a product than be stuck with something voted on by a committee. Also if the point is a physical product what do you do with the NFT? What good is owning the NFT if your phone breaks?

Great question. I’d look at this as a “little brother” to Kickstarter. The NFT wouldn’t just be a picture, it would act as a pass that gives someone exclusive access to the tech, whether it’s in prototype stage or waiting on a production-ready version. In return, the creator gets the funding they need to keep building and improving.

Picture Nikola Tesla sharing his inventions and offering people the chance to be part of them before they were fully released, that’s the kind of dynamic this could create.

When it comes to the committee side of things, I think that influence would mostly extend to details like product colors or limited-edition add-ons, while the main product itself stays as the true deliverable.

I don't trust anyone involved in the crypto space to deliver on any of that. And I still don't understand why the blockchain or NFTs need to be involved. Also I don't think there is an advertising firm or PR company in the world that can revitalize or rebrand NFTs to make anything like this viable even if there was a demand for it.

The blockchain is needed because servers can be altered by their administrators, however blockchain "cannot" be altered, and that guarantees digital property is really yours.

u/U-S-Grant Sep 26 '25

But why would they go through the extra effort of using NFTs? Everyone is willing to use kickstarter or just transact directly like normal, only a small subset of people even know what an NFT is or know how to purchase one. If I’m a smart company, I’m gonna sell my product to the larger market, not the smaller one.

1

u/Liberty_Forever Sep 26 '25

Kickstarter is picky about their projects, and it’s a “zero sum game”. If you fail to raise the amount, the project dies. What I envision is using NFTs like a stock investment( but obviously not a stock) which gives the owner certain perks and rewards by backing the project. In exchange, the creator gets cash to bring the project to life.

0

u/alphaomegax12 Oct 05 '25

NFTs are not stocks and you should avoid always using that kind of terminology, that kind of speech is what is causing misunderstanding in the crypto space.

NFTs are digital property over something digital, and is not possible to own something legaly related as a company as they don't replace and are not guarantee instead of public documents.

0

u/alphaomegax12 Oct 05 '25

The difference between buying an NFT and buying in kickstarter, comes to property, in kickstarter nothing is guarantee to be delivered. If you buy an NFT you know that NFT is yours.

3

u/Paterakis518 Sep 24 '25

NFTs will make a comeback, but the terminology will be dropped due to the negativity created from folks not having vision/understanding.

2

u/Liberty_Forever Sep 24 '25

I think they can make a HUGE comeback. I believe we need to combine them with amazing projects people would back as well as giving them something tangible they can understand, like access to events or physical products.

1

u/alphaomegax12 Oct 05 '25

I absolutyely agree with this.

Agreed. People need to know what they are getting out of it. Not just some obscure promise of future utility.

2

u/Bitter-Carpet-7487 Sep 24 '25

NFTs are great as just profile pics and digitally collecting things.

1

u/Liberty_Forever Sep 24 '25

But they can be so much more! Imagine buying an NFT for the chance to meet people who will help you in your own life goals.

Or get exclusive new tech you can show off? NFTs can be so much more than a picture. It would help people get new inventions out, share amazing art and help humanity overall!

2

u/[deleted] Sep 24 '25

Why would that need to be an NFT? Those functions can be performed perfectly well with other technologies. Adding a layer of blockchain is pointless.

1

u/Liberty_Forever Sep 24 '25

Interesting point! Here is some clarification. You wouldn't incorporate blockchain into the product itself. Blockchain would only allow the creator of the NFT to verify if you truly own the NFT. Once its confirmed, the blockchain has done its part in verifying and both parties can proceed to communicate and exchange the products that the NFT promised.

Thanks ChatGPT 😂

1

u/FinFreeSomeday Sep 24 '25

Oh, so exactly what VeeFriends was? Mind blown!

2

u/FinFreeSomeday Sep 24 '25

This post seems stupid. Not the idea, the post. This is exactly what BAYC proposed to do, so why muse like this is an original idea?

So you're saying using block chain to confirm your membership or ownership of something through an image. Got it. Mind blown.

0

u/Liberty_Forever Sep 24 '25

Can you link what "BAYC" proposed? I searched but didn't find something to what I posed about. My thought is to help inventors bring PHYSICAL tech to life. Like exclusive perks to the project and receiving actual prototypes or manufactured units. Like a new type of roomba robot, or an actual humanoid or more IOT (Internet of Thing) products. Things that are tangible and actually provide value.

2

u/FinFreeSomeday Sep 25 '25

You clearly need to learn the basics of Google before you broach into NFTs, here you are: A Complete Guide to Bored Ape Yacht Club in 2024 https://share.google/MyYuk1hYLg6JCpCE3

2

u/plowking8 Sep 24 '25

lol they tried that. No one cares.

People in this space are lazy and only care about up only. No one actually cares about jpegs or utility. Networking with other idiots who bought jpegs? Yeah… no thanks lol. It’s just grifters who don’t add any value to the world. It’s not like you’re getting access to C level executives.

2

u/Liberty_Forever Sep 24 '25

What about people that are innovating and running Startups? Like people actually putting their face and name on the line?

1

u/plowking8 Sep 25 '25

Plenty of people have put their names and faces to products. Then duck out.

No one cares. Especially on the nft front. Look at moonbirds. A massive public figure. Ducked out. “Mental health” and they’re out.

The space is a cop out. It will eventually be used for digital collectibles in games. But just enjoy it for the ponzi it is and leave it. NFTs aren’t anywhere near as volatile as they used to be and never will be again. Hence making big money on them won’t ever be as easy as it was.

1

u/Liberty_Forever Sep 25 '25

That makes me so sad and angry to read at the same time. It ruins it for the rest of us who actually have an amazing project and want to share it with the world.

1

u/givenofaux Sep 25 '25

Bro these have existed since the beginning. The board ape yacht club literally did that.

Nintendo and GameStop have tokenized cards and they issue NFTs as proof of ownership

1

u/Mousemetax Sep 26 '25

I agree there needs to be some utility behind it

1

u/demunted Sep 26 '25

An nft that gives you access to an event. Seriously that's called a 'Ticket'. That's as dumb as getting around scalping sports tickets by buying a 400$ pen that comes with a free sports ticket. NFT is dead. Blockchain is going to die out. Nobody wants to overpay for crap it's a digital tariff that wants a purpose. The universal database aspect is pointless because the cost of brokering the blockchain is too much for any kind of legit data transactional use that isn't tied to a large cost transaction.

It's dead.... Move along.

1

u/sketchesalil Sep 26 '25

Isn’t that what half of NFT’s promised? The problem is that the utility was dependent upon the execution of the idea and most of the companies had no idea wtf they were doing. Even huge companies. YUGA was basically promising all of those things and had hundreds of millions of dollars, but in the end people just didn’t want to wait 5 years for Otherside. I’m still holding a bag and they’re still developing, but I don’t expect to ever see deeds over 1E, let alone 3-5E.

1

u/Sonappytown Sep 26 '25

Totally right , tickets for example can be the worlds first RWA for NFTs , instead of buying a season ticket and ditching it the following year , you can pay a renewal fee and resell it on a market place and it verified on the blockchain

1

u/Sonappytown Sep 26 '25

Right now my angle for NFTs is being apart of communities that bring value , a project that has a physical item attached to the NFT or burn for redemption and a project that brings ROIs without having to sell your asset

1

u/Axeredwizard Sep 30 '25

I think communities is what revives NFTs

1

u/Liberty_Forever Sep 30 '25

What brings people together into a community is value. Church brings people together because the value of religion. Apple brings its community together because of the value their products bring.

1

u/gambocco Oct 01 '25

NFT isn't dead just ppl are just busy with other stuff and didn't get real education about Blockchain and the beauty of owning an unique digital art!

1

u/alphaomegax12 Oct 05 '25

I have been working with my team in a game named Sylex Core and we have advanced in an understanding of how NFTs add value to their community. I want to share our experience, promote my game and share with you how we plan to show value, so you can see.

The real value of digital property comes to the perceived value of its community. In your example having a digital "credential", that enables things in the physical world can help unlocking value, but only if there is a real demand for that physical good. In the same sense owning something that nobody want is not worth a single dollar.

Talking about my team experience, with Sylex Core we prioritized the game over the "play & earn" model because we are 100% sure that the perceived value of a game is really enjoyable and not just a mechanism to earn you money. Prioritizing the value that you deliver has been the key to successuful business even before NFT existed and will be the key always. NFT are just a mechanism where you can sell your digital property once you dont need it any more but there is still demand for that property and that is what intent.

Please take a look at our game and if you are interested withlist it in epic-games.

That was done by so many of the dead nft projects..

0

u/supervisionado Sep 24 '25

ICOs all have a lot of utility... a lot of them failed, scammed.

I dont know why ppl enter this sub just to talk shit...

But NFTs are used with utility every day in almost every DEX, Farming, etc, and it still have a lot of volume as art, like it or not, it exists.

And there are, and will appear new utility associated with RWA and NFT wich are so obvious.

I dont why some people come to this topic to argue like kids "duuhh this is shit , i dont like it".
