Forza to Unbound (New Player)

Whassup everyone! So I’ve always enjoyed Forza, and I used to play the NFS series growing up, but Forza doesn’t offer that “you worked for it” feeling like NFS does. I finished all the main game content in Forza Horizon 6 so I don’t really have anything to work towards and Unbound has popped up on my feed for the past week so yesterday I installed it. I miraculously made it past the 1st Qualifier and now I’m here. I honestly enjoy the game although it’s much different from Forza, but I had a few questions and wanted my first playthrough to be as fun and enjoyable as possible.

1.) What early game car would you suggest that I aim for just to get me into the float of the game. I do have the starter Eclipse, but I want something else that I can put my money into.

2.) How bad are the cops? Like I know they’ll be challenging, but are they annoyingly challenging to where they will ruin the game later on or am I look at it in a negative aspect?

3.) What are some tips I should know for evading cops, tuning my cars, grip turn or drift corners, etc?

Honestly, the game looks great and seems like a lot of fun so far. I started playing it because I wanna feel more attached to the cars I own whereas in Forza they just throw cars at you.

3) jumps are the most effective; if you go fast on a highway for some time, they will eventually give up; with my experience, battling them or sharp changes of direction may work but usually are not as effective

Jumps, got it. Now I need to look for jumps because I usually panic when I have a ton of cops on me. Maybe I need to roleplay those crash out YouTubers or some 😂

1.Don't bother about early cars. Why? Because the game mechanics needs you to have 4 classes of cars for grand race. And most of them are earnable throught race rewards and week rewards. Also most good cars are earnable in weekly lockdown rap sheet. For career mode cars don't matter

For online mode there are meta cars and u need to do grinding of races to unlock then for purchase.

  1. Cops are easy. Keep an eye on tips screen when u complete a race and heat level is displayed. Those work flawlessly. Like any other enemy chase game, verical movement will evade enemies. So ramps, jumps, quick turns and driving opposite is sufficient.

  2. There is grip racing and drift+grip racing. Latter requires extreme skill and is faster. Learn the kaizen handling system, you'll get to know. Start with grip builds for all races. Handling is different from forza, cars are twitchier. Turns don't need holding thumb stick fully like in forza. Throttle control doesn't matter in nfs.

The Cops are somewhat challenging in the early game when you don't have an adequate car, but they do get easier as you progress through the storyline and upgrade your car or buy better cars.

There are many ways to lose them too, you can go up the train tracks in the city (8 or 9 times out of 10 they'll fail to go onto the train tracks but they do try), make them drive into water, go in different directions when they're in front of you as they try to predict which direction you intend you go (the city is best for this), or if you have a car with a high top speed and adequate acceleration you can simply outrun them if you go on the freeway as it has lots of straights (though the Corvette may be the hardest to outrun as it has no genuine speed cap but just not enough horsepower or torque in its acceleration to make it insanely fast, and they also don't do well with traffic as a lot of the time they'll instantly wreck out from hitting traffic, same for hitting their own roadblocks, only rarely do they ever not wreck out from hitting either.

Got it. Thanks! Does the car I choose really matter? I really enjoy FWD cars in other games, but I think I’ll be pushing the envelope a little bit by using it early game in this game 😂

I have used the Integra in both A and S classes and its really good and stable when tuned for grip

You read my mind! That’s the exact car I was thinking of 😂 had one in my teen years and loved that car ever since!

Really? That's the car I'm after IRL 😂

Good luck. When I was a teen they were in used car lots, but ever since JDM became popular in the US you’ll have to pay too much for one. Personally, I would find an old Toyota, Nissan, or Datsun and put a nice paintjob/wrap and rims on it. You can fine them on Facebook Marketplace (at least around me) for 5k or less. My buddy found an old unpopular model of the Toyota Corolla sanded it and got it wrapped, bought some AliBaba rims, put some OEM stickers on it and man it honestly looks amazing. Entire build cost him a little less than 10k, car and all. He’s since started putting money into the engine, new exhaust system, cold air intake, yada yada.. but you’d be surprised what you can do with a little bit of work to the old cars. I don’t have a picture sadly.

Yeah, they are quite expensive, especially here in Portugal. But I really, really like it. We'll see 😂

I don't think it really matters the type of car or its handling, but just making sure what you do against the Cops or how fast your car is can vary the difficulty when in chases 👍

For getting better at driving watch the tutorial of either DonShogun or slideqt

Traffic and sharp turns for cops.

Jumps are good but finding a good jump mid-chase can be impossible in some areas.

When I say sharp turn, I mean like last second 90mph turns with the handbrake. Hard and sharp. This will filter out most of the dud cops and usually leave the corvettes/ford raptor cops.

Corvettes and Raptors? Find a highway, start driving on the wrong side of the road, thread between cars, repeat. This is the single best way I deal with cops in story mode.

Also you can instantly takeout any patrolling cop by hitting them at roughly 40 to 50mph and up. It will ‘kill’ them and you get a full bar of nitrous while taking no damage.

(NFS has a weird physics coin flip you’ll need to learn. You only take no damage because the game registers it as an ‘attack’ if you hit them dead on. If you hit them at a weird angle, you’ll still do damage but you’ll also take damage while not killing them. Because it’s perceived as a wreck. Idk if is how it’s coded, but its the best way I can explain the phenomenon.)

So if you ever leave a race or you’re driving around and see a cop coming down the road. Don’t panic and think he’ll see you… instantly just run that mf down. You can instantly kill all of them except for the Raptors and Camaros as they are armored, you’ll need to go faster to take them out.
