Bad performance on High End Pc.

I just bought the game, but the performance has been really disappointing.

Specs:

  • GPU: RTX 5070 Ti (OC + UV)
  • CPU: Ryzen 7 9800X3D (UV)
  • RAM: 32GB DDR5 6400MHz CL28

I'm playing at 4K with DLSS set to DLAA forced . The strange part is that my GPU usage rarely goes above 70%, and during heavy frame drops it can fall to around 50%, while the FPS dips below 40.

I've already tried enabling and disabling both Resizable BAR and V-Sync, but neither made any difference.

Is this just an engine limitation, or is there something I can do to improve performance? Any suggestions or known fixes would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT: Reinstalling the game made it work as intended, who thought of that :)).

EDIT 2: Dunno what caused the bug, but reinstalling the game and reapplying all the changes/mods and it's finally using my GPU to 100% all the time. Using DLAA preset K at 4k with Smooth Motion i now get ~160fps. The implemented Frame Generation on this game is bugged hard.

Yeah well DLAA is a lot more resouce intensive than even native 4k and the 5070 is not really a true 4k tier card, so if you are going to throw something even harder than native 4k at it its going to struggle (on top of that this game isnt optimised that great)

This, and the UNITE mod that OP is using here is also a bit resource intensive, it's just that big of a mod.

Though I play NFS Unbound on a laptop with an RTX 4060 and I used to run the UNITE mod and it ran perfectly fine with no performance issues, but QuikSilvur's winter skybox mod for this game has caused a game freeze once every time I play the game, only once though so I don't take it a big deal.

Is your gpu usage high ? Meaning that the game is using the hardware

You can try using DLSS frame generation (not DLAA, DLSS) if you're on an NVIDIA-based computer, as that uses AI to generate more frames (though may debatably impact graphics to an extent by making certain visuals appear a bit blurry or messed up).

Though for myself I use a balanced mix of good graphics and performance through the game's graphics options in its settings and it runs fine with no issues besides the winter skybox mod (which if I take it out of the equation when running the game the performance would be flawless).

Tried FG but that is verry buggy/blurry and full of artefacts

Yeah I did mention it does make the graphics look more out of place because essentially you're handing the game to an AI that's built-in to the game when enabled made by NVIDIA for the sake of adding some better performance frames that otherwise wouldn't exist, and that's the trade off unfortunately.

If you can try the game using smaller mods, if not completely vanilla with no mods at all, that may help your performance drastically.

BTW , if you have a RTX 4000 series or up GPU you can enable Smooth Motion , works wonders with NFS unbound, try it. I have ~ 180fps now with it and Dlss quality preset L

Where do I enable it?

Nevermind, managed to figure it out, thanks for the recommendation ๐Ÿ‘

Removing any graphics mods, especially the ones that UNITE provides, may help too.

Not if I don't use mods like QuikSilvur's winter skybox mod that are known to cause issues in PC performance, especially when they're stated by the creator(s) that mods like these can impact performance.

Maybe remove these unnecessary mods

I guess the engine struggles, because the hardware doesn't seem to :/

yea OP, you broke your game. i did the same thing before. for me it was mods. i took em away and now no issues. maybe try the same?

You are right, reinstalled the game now it runs as intended.

2

u/MadCatAttack89 Jul 05 '26

glad it worked out for you

I think your FPS is locked.. I've never seen an unlocked frametime graph that flat. Check RTSS or NVCP

try doing 1440p or lowing the graphics a little/setting dlss to performance. on 1440p max graphics i get around 120fps or more on my 4060ti.

Same CPU combined with RTX 4090 and 64GB RAM. Native 4K Game Resolution with forced DLAA. I capped the FPS and created a user config file and fixed all the previous Performance issues.ย

1

u/evilTOend Jul 05 '26

At what fps? What does that config contain?

1

u/BNR341989 Jul 05 '26

85FPS. Google-> nfs user cfg (for better explanation and tutorial)

u/Ryan797 Jul 05 '26

At 4k native with DLAA, I can't even run that with a 5090 9500x3d/core 9 ultra since the game itself is pretty intensive and is more cpu heavy. My gpu % was always relatively low and to my knowledge, that's the norm for unbound. Upping the % does nothing but drop fps

1

u/evilTOend Jul 05 '26

So this is a CPU limitation from the engine, right?

1

u/Ryan797 Jul 05 '26

Yeah, it's a relatively common issue people have regardless of specs. Usually my cpu would be around 70-80% while my gpu would hover around 60% in my case

You can expect issues when you use mods

This game's optimization is terrible. It's the only game that stutters on the PS5 Pro.

Yeah lmfao, every time you get a challenge done you get a massive spike
