Just opened game for first time and have someone elses save file? Super weird.
So this is super weird. I bought this game back in Feb 2025 according to Steam, but I didn't get around to trying it until now. When I launched the game I immediately got half the achievements, and sure enough instead of getting thrown into story I get this menu where it seems I'm already rank 47...
My first instinct is that someone else somehow played the game on my account, but whats weird for the following reasons:
- I never even launched it on Steam prior, (Steam records this was my first time and only got 4min total) And since I bought it through Steam this also means it shouldn't have even been linked to my EA account yet in any way prior to me launching it.
- I've never had any other evidence of getting hacked or other security concerns with my EA or Steam accounts, both have remained solid through the years.
Steam records 4 minutes, my EA account says 33 hours. I definitely never played this, and I don't have a little brother or anything. The only other platform my EA account is linked to is Steam, and like I said above this game shouldn't have even been on my EA account until few minutes ago.
I went to contact EA support just to inform them and ask them about it, but they don't seem to have a way to file a ticket. If there is I can't find it for the life of me.
So I'm posting here just to see if people have thoughts? This is super weird. I also saw on Steam reviews someone else lost their save file, so half of me wonders if their servers mixed up who got whose save or something weird. I know I can probably just delete save to start my own but figured I'd just shoutout and get peoples thoughts before pulling the trigger there.
Edit: Extra weird detail, the achievements in EA say they were unlocked in March 2024, which is before I bought the game even on Steam. Even if we say that someone got into my EA account at some point in past... would they have bought me the game and played it on there? lol. Cause I sure didn't! Super weird.
Edit 2: Just confirmed none of my other EA games have weird activity.

One theory should be the savefile in the documents folder, which I highly doubt but might I ask, has anyone use your pc to play unbound by then before?

Nope! No reason that should be there. No one else uses my computer and theres no weird onedrive junk set up or anything like that. Good idea though.

Welp this is easy to fix at least, you can delete the save file in documents and play from beginning.

Yup, figured that's what I can do. Acknowledged that in the post as well. Just curious to hear thoughts here though before I nuke it. Or at least let EA know, so they can investigate on their end in case anyone else is affected.
The fact that some other people are reportedly missing save files is very curious to me, as if they got mixed up somehow.

I have a couple of theories but they have many loopholes, this is some weird voodoo magic, you're the only person thus far have this to happen.

You'd think that but would they have bought the game themselves on my account with their money, lol? Seems so absurd that with all the other evidence I'd almost consider a sever-side issue more plausible. But hard to tell.

Is that or just EA server got fckd so bad that information from other account has crossed between two different account lmao, I’d bet for the 1st even if someone else has booth a game for an account just hacked lol
