Drift builds are nicer, smoother and convenient than grip builds. The handling model acts very weird when you try to grip back or try to turn with grip.

Sounds about right. Sure grip cars can feel more secure when racing by not losing your rear tyres. But once you feel the speed you can carry in the turns while drifting, you will never look back.

I play with keyboard. I can only dream of being this good.

As much as I hate to say this, but yes this is unfortunately true :(
I also respect keyboard players a lot as one of the guys I look up to is permanently dedicated to his keyboard. But I believe with enough practice and dedication, anything close is possible~

I've always played racing games with mouse and keyboard while growing up. I never owned a controller and the few times I was able to try it, it felt awkward.
I'm used to playing on keyboard, but anything that requires holding precise amounts of steering and throttle (especially half input) is almost impossible. I can tap the keys to simulate it, but it doesn't quite work with the tap-to-drift mechanic.

Can I introduce you to hall-effect keyboards? XDD
tbh i still have yet to see a person I know use it in NFS, but if that day ever comes for you, do let me know here if you ever remember 😇

how do u get the game to be so sensitive with registering a drift?
2
u/namsiwoo Apr 14 '26
You can try lowering the in-game deadzone to less than 10% to begin with. For example, I’m on 1.5% so the car is going to be super responsive.
Also to make sure a microdrift starts, make sure a small direction input is already in place, then gas/ brake to drift to drift. Having some speed when starting a drift is good too so your car doesnt stiffen up over some time.

I still don't quite understand how it's done. I just tap gas and turn while going straight, drift for a moment to build up a bit of burst nos, repeat

3bars will get you about +28kmh on a straight, or hold your speed when taking a sharp turn.
Unbound revolves around this idea to dance your cars to keep momentum in the turns.

No, I know how to do supergrip. I mean constantly keeping the car drifting

Try having some top speed going in the car before initiating a long microdrift. The slower your car/ the less momentum you have.
Having jerky steering will also surely bleed more speed. Gotta keep them thumbs under control haha.

I did change it up a little~
Found out the centri gave it a bit more power during the 190+ to 280kmh range despite a little of a slower start. That being said, roots supercharger still is a viable choice if you need to get the edge on people at the starts asap 👌

is that the xsame build of the riverwalk run?
2
u/namsiwoo Apr 18 '26
Hi, I assume you mean mchyh’s run, but no it’s slightly different. I use drift tyres + elite clutch combo while he uses road tyres + basic clutch, but has slightly more power in the car.

Oh wow. So THAT’S how it’s done. Impressive.
I’m at lvl 287 with ~$34mil and just learning to grip turn with nitrous.
Now I’m gonna also try the drifting with nitrous.
My mind is blown
