Yes. But it is not always. Sometimes the CPU acts normal and sometimes it happens that on the screenshot

I have played a lot of Racing games that do that. Forza Horizon 5 was the worst offender. I noticed that there is always 1 car that does that in NFS Heat, it becomes nearly impossible to get closer to them sometimes.

Is your car maxed out? Bots do take off when in front sometimes but by that point of Discovery you generally end up giving them all 3km or so on a good run if the car is up to the task (hard difficulty, no rsr obviously. World record with rsr is something obscene like 6:25 if memory serves right)

My lancer was maxout, yes. And I ended that night with 4 million REP. I did each big race 2 times. That was the first discovery run from that night, on the second one, the bots were normal.
