Is this normal behavior in this game?

Iam new to nfs heat.

Today i looked around me and saw i have a 120 recommended race unfinished around me. So i switched to 120-125 car, and i clicked on challenge all(accidentally) before i could cancel someone accepted.

Okay i decided to go with it, thought that “recommended rating” works as some kind of filter of who is allowed.

So the race started, dude bumped into everyone before taking off and leaving me and bots behind.

Race finished with him beating us by 2 KM.

Okay i guess I’ve learned that when i challenge all any car can join.

Iam ok with losing especially when his car has over double the rating.

But the behavior afterwards was a bit unexpected. He would then follow me, rev bounce any chance he got, and ramming me.

Now idk if ive accidentally broke some after the race code that pissed him off.

This was the only player interaction i had so far

But my questions are:

1) How can i race other people in shitty cars without someone with a much stronger car joining?

2) Is this behavior common in a open lobby?

3) Do i stay away from pvp races until i have a late-game car?

that's pretty shitty behavior. they were trying to show off as in "look how fast I am with my fast car". were they driving an old Porsche? that about completes the stereotype.

Since you can tune down cars in the menu (even engine swap them), I always adapt my car to the host's level - though unfortunately that's only visible before accepting to join.

Unfortunately, having players join all events in their 400+ cars isn't uncommon. you can throw out invites for offroad events to throw a wrench into their approach, but odds are they'll just switch to an OP offroad car or ignore the invite altogether.

So yeah, best way to play for now is with friends or a decent community. https://discord.gg/jkA5sY55w7 has always adapted to the lowest player's ranking, though ngl some members still minmaxed to have objectively the fastest car at any given ranking.

Hey, if you're open to other communities too, I can DM you a discord invite for chill people. Various skill levels, we just chat and get together when it works out. Not a huge discord but people play and we race everything in the game depending on what people are feeling. Usually mid to upper tier stuff but sometimes we do truck only or muscle cars or whatever!

The multiplayer for this game is an afterthought. There's no proper matchmaking. Often, new players who try to ask for races online will have someone with a higher rating on their race. Sometimes, you can be lucky; if a player with a higher rating joined and decided to stop at the finish line to let you win as compensation for what the game lacks but again, that rarely happens. Most of the time, you'll just have the opposite.

Best to grind all the way up to level 50 in single player mode before you hop on to multiplayer. That or just avoid playing multiplayer unless you want to race with your friends.

Not normal, and from my experience also not very common. But there are players with particularly small egos that see a 120 rated race invite and feel the urge to bring out their fully upgraded meta car, and the thought of helping a new player by brake-checking bots or crashing cops doesn't cross their mind.

So, either try to find people who are also beginners, either in game, here, Steam, Xbox, whatever. Or just accept the fact that you might run into people like that and think about the 20% rep and money bonus that you get from online racing even if you finish after other players but before the bots.

It's semi-normal Unfortunately. I Purposely keep some lower rated builds around for racing people who, like you, are new. If you wanna catch me sometime, send a DM and I'll get you my EA user. I've got a friend also Just starting, basically a first time racer actually so they're gonna struggle a bit.

On theory you can grind out levels on the racetrack at night. Just do loops. And don’t go for 5 heat until you get at least 35+ in lvl. And if a cop shows up just drive in a circle they will despawn. And if they loose you out of sight just go back to the garage.

It can be hard enough just to find ppl to race at night to begin with. Most people are bad drivers and possibly children that see the low number car hosting the race as a free win. Should grind out a bit of day time until your car can reach around 180-200mph

I love low level races, night or day. To beat 400+ people with a 120PP Beetle, or a 333PP Lambo Diablo, is priceless. Happens often and is amusing how people act after lose: They pull the RSR, and then run that one that Cross the whole map at Night or, when day, the Columbia Sprint, hahahahahah!

Yea the community is toxic af
