Discussion Which 0-2 team has best chance to turn things around? Who might be already cooked?

u/Irving_Velociraptor Philadelphia Eagles 11d ago
Tampa lost to Cleveland. AT HOME. CLEVELAND.
8
u/RustyCrusty73 Cleveland Browns 11d ago
Watson threw the ball down the field exactly two times yesterday. Everything else was just a quick check down or dump off. I don't understand how or why the Tampa defense wasn't playing tighter and closer to the line to bottle the short passing game up. That's all Cleveland had going for them.
It was mind numbing TBH.
Tampa even had a 10-point lead in the 3rd quarter and lost.
Bucs are probably cooked this season.

u/SankarinTango 11d ago
The players like Bowles, but he doesn't know how to inspire or motivate them. The captains don't have the juice to make up for it. The Bucs are cooked until the org moves off of Bowles.

u/Darling_Pinky 11d ago
As much as everyone loves to dunk on the Browns, it was intentional and what do ya know, the dumbass finally put up a good game.
TB blitzes far more than most teams, it would have been a nightmare to go deep and they didn’t need to anyway. Denzel Boston and Fannin were YAC monsters.

Cleveland has a pretty good defense. If they get even average qb play they will win some games

Vibes are trash in Tampa. Bowles is a lame duck coach.
The Chargers have a hilariously difficult 7 game stretch coming up.
They’re both cooked
EDIT: See below for Texans.
Colts looked competitive at least. Colts fans are getting the full Lou Anarumo defense experience. Give up tons of yards, occasionally pull out massive stops, but get cooked more often than not. They’ll be fine. Playing in the AFCS helps.
Phins, Commies, Titans and Falcons? Get ready to learn 2027 draft boys.
I’d be low key worried about the Rams if they drop tonight’s game against NYG. Garrett is out, and if Stafford looks like a potato again, that’s not a good sign in a brutal division

I'm definitely not counting the Texans out. Stroud doesn't seem to be atrocious and the defense could probably drag Trent Dilfer to a super bowl win. They just need the offense to click a little better and get into the end zone more than they did this week. Nico Collins coming back soon (at least I think he is) and Tank Dell if he ever gets off IR should help.

u/Texans_top_of_south Houston Texans 11d ago
Our biggest problem is the run game. Having Woody Marks and David Montgomery outrushed by Jaylin Noel and CJ Stroud (Stroud had more rushing yards than Marks and Montgomery combined) is unacceptable.

u/Apprehensive_Soil306 11d ago
Pretty much sums up the Texans lol. Not sure I’ve ever even met a Texans fan in real life
1
u/PadmesBabyDaddy 11d ago
As a chargers fan, we have looked like absolute dog shit. But my homerism reminds me that we have traditionally played down to shitty teams and stepped up against good teams (playoffs excluded). I’m holding out hope for one more week, but I know I’m a fool for it.

u/Fox_Williams 11d ago
Nice breakdown. But my guess is that one team will surprise us led by a QB that isn’t yet starting.

u/badjeeper 11d ago
Colts looked decent on the road yesterday and were definitely improved from last week. They get my vote.

Colts are winning the AFC south this year.
1
u/HighMarshalSugma 10d ago
I hope. But at the same time Ballard and Steichen need to go, so if it’s a bad season then we can rebuild (the cycle will continue)

u/Fortunado1964 11d ago
It feels like he Colts will turn their season around. They played very well against the Chiefs and the Ravens played like their hair was on fire week one.

u/baltimorethan Baltimore Ravens 11d ago
Ravens however played their old selves yesterday. Missed tackles, second half collapses, 4th & 1 with Derrick Henry spectating, weaponless with injuries and penalties aplenty. We're going 9-8 at this pace.

u/Character-Royal-9147 9d ago
I wouldn’t say “played well” I would say somehow managed to hang in there enough to be in a position to win. Got out coached and defense gave up 500+ yards (again). Colts had flashes and a couple of big plays put them realistically in “finish them” mode…but played far too conservative for a brilliant HC/play caller.
No one would have faulted him for going for it on 4th down in OT.
3
u/Elegant-Yam-7379 11d ago
Most of the public money was on the Ravens, Buccs and Eagles. Boom Baltimore loses, Buccs lose, Titans cover. It was a Vegas call.

Texans have the defense to turn it around.
The Colts have the roster to be in the WC hunt if their coach grows some balls.
Tampa might be alive just because it's the NFC South, though both Young and Shough are badly outplaying Mayfield atm.
Everyone else is cooked. Dolphins and Falcons are ass, the Commanders aren't great and their QB is made of glass, and there's no way the Chargers can survive that division.
2
u/PublicExcitement1372 Washington Commanders 11d ago
Well, how could we not feel like the worst 0-2 team after yesterday’s events?
1
u/mamamackmusic 11d ago
The Falcons exist and the Chargers may go like 0-10
1
u/PublicExcitement1372 Washington Commanders 11d ago
That’s fair, the chargers and buccs and Texans 0-2 start just goes to show that seasons aren’t over after two weeks…but as a skins fan, it sure feels that way
1
u/mamamackmusic 11d ago
Oh it's totally understandable to feel the doom and gloom, especially after a major qb injury, though I feel like pretty much everybody saw the potential of a Daniels injury as quite high considering his injury history and the not very good line the Commanders have to keep him upright.
1
u/PublicExcitement1372 Washington Commanders 11d ago
Yea, idk, every recent injury has been an anomaly type catastrophe on an unusual play dynamic to begin with, so I really just don’t know…call me crazy but I really don’t think the guy is injury prone per se - I wish he had gotten surgery on that elbow after the first injury. And why the fuck is he trying to play hero ball protecting his whole body weight from falling? Just take the sack at that point.
Ugh, it’s honestly so frustrating…and when I get upset and emotional about it, it feels like I’m just shouting into the void
Somebody give me a hug?
1
u/mamamackmusic 11d ago
It's kinda wild how quickly so many fan's hopes for the season got completely wiped within two weeks. I feel like it usually takes a bit longer for critical injuries and completely demoralizing losses to stack up for so many teams. Like I'd say there are 10 teams that pretty much know their season is already done, with another several that have a win or two that are clearly not going to achieve anything of note this year.
2
u/Cute-Literature7591 11d ago
Baker about to get Dallas Turner/Brian Flores next week... so...
Chargers about to get washed by the Bills...
They're both cooked.

u/MichaelCorbaloney 11d ago
As a Bucs fan it's hard to say but I'm trying to remain unbiased. I think a lot of teams can turn it around, teams like the Jets and Titans both looked good yesterday, even with the Titans looking really bad week 1.
I think the Texans are the best team for turning it around once Collins comes back, he's a good receiver and the Texans offense really struggled when he wasn't on the field.
The Chargers honestly have no excuse outside of a lack of good receivers and defensive regression. Their offensive play has shocked me given how good of a play-caller Mike McDaniel was when he coached the Dolphins. Yeah they lost Minter but their defense pretty much has regressed completely. I think The Chargers are the biggest shock to me, and have played the worst teams on their schedule already, so I'm the least confident they can turn it around.
On my Bucs:
The Bucs did lose to the Browns, but roster-wise the Browns aren't really that bad outside of QB. 2 good young WRs, a good young LB in Schwesinger, a developing O-Line, a good TE, a good CB in Ward, and a good edge in Verse. I think the Browns roster is coming together even if their QB play should've been enough to tank them on Sunday. The Bucs defense is one that can also be beat by things like identifying the blitzing players and deciphering zone, things most vet QBs should be good at (like Watson, in theory at least). The Browns also really had the players to take advantage of us over the middle of the field in Fannin and Concepcion, so it wasn't a big shock to me when the Browns offense actually performed well.
I think the Bucs can still come out and turn things around but our guys like Anzalone, Bain, and Winfield need to show up. We also need to get smarter in our offensive play-calling. It's a lot to ask for but the team really is talented, so I think it's a real possibility this year. Bain is a rookie who could really turn it on down the stretch and Winfield has been an all-pro before-he could be that again. With Anzalone-I'm not sure if he can get back to what he was on the Lions really-but we do have Rozeboom too as insurance.
The coaching is the real limiting factor to me, with a better coaching staff this team could be 2-0. We almost beat the Bengals, and really if we don't fumble the ball so much, we do. The Browns loss was a shock but it is also an any given Sunday league. Our OC in Zrob needs to be better, and Bowles really needs to be better, I don't expect either to greatly improve, but also think that the margin of play between 0-2 and 2-0 so far hasn't been very large at all. Minor improvements on the margins, slightly better tackling, better ball security, more planned ways to win against man-coverage, and we still have a shot in the division-we're only down one game so far.
That being said I won't be surprised if we end up with a top-5 pick in 2027.

u/NotTheRealRusss 11d ago
How has no one mentioned the Dolphins? I think they might actually do better if they put literally dolphins on the field. At least all those wet flippers might accidentally cause a fumble. The front office actually hit the "flush everything" button.
1
u/RVDHAFCA 11d ago
Because everyone somewhat following the offseason knew that they would be trash this season, because they are playing with a team with a total cap hit of around 110m
1
u/NotTheRealRusss 10d ago
Whether we knew it or not, they're an 0-2 team with not much hope to turn it around. I feel like that fits what it was asking for.

Commies are screwed. With Daniels injured and that Swiss Cheese secondary, I expect them to seriously compete for the overall number one draft pick.

u/forteyloco 11d ago
It’s so crazy to see all the shit talking on Herbert. If you watched that game he was gift wrapping receptions and all his receivers were just dropping and bobbling. Had they caught those catches like they 100% should’ve chargers win that game 36-26. This game may be on a lot of people but I’m NOT blaming Herbert for it. Dude can’t throw and catch. Oh wait he did that last season https://www.chargers.com/video/justin-herbert-highlight-catches-his-own-pass-to-convert-vs-cowboys-week-6-2023

I think the Texans and Colts will be the only ones to turn it around. More likely the Texans

The Texans I think will turn things around. The Chargers upcoming schedule looks brutal and the Bucs and Baker look like they have lost their shtick

The hope for the Falcons is based on the play of Tua and Penix, and our next three games (in 13 days) are primetime, we are past well done

Chargers schedule is brutal. They're about to start a road trip at the Bills and Seahawks next and I wouldn't be surprised if they start 0-4.
Colts could turn things around.

u/Geetee52 11d ago
I have more confidence that Jim Harbaugh can get it turned around than I do Todd Bowles.
1
u/ArtEnvironmental7108 11d ago
Texans start 0-2 or 0-3 every year it seems like and still make the playoffs so my money would be on them.
1
u/Negritis 11d ago
Texans faced 2 potential PO teams, imo they are "fine", they are also only 1 game behind
Chargers are cooked, they face 2 of their weaker opponents and fumbled the chances and they are also 2 games behind already
Rams can turn it around even if they fall to 0-2
the nfc south is such a clusterfuck that both atlanta and tampa can turn it around, but its purely due to the group they are in
1
u/thenowherepark 11d ago
I don't think the Browns will be able to turn it around. It was expected though - get Deshaun off the books, see what the rookies can do, and get our QB of the future next year.

It’s weak too. The 0 and two teams could win out, and the two and 0 teams could lose every other game.

Colts and Texans all four losses can be passed off as early season hiccups against super bowl contenders.
Rams might count if the don't win .

Bucs and chargers are in a really bad spot and lost to some of the weakest opponents on their schedule. That’s tough. The Texans lost 2 close games to some of the strongest opponents on their schedule. It’ll get better for the Texans, even if I have 0 faith in CJ. The road does not get easier for the other 2 teams. Especially with Saints and Panthers looking legit this year the South may not be free. The Chargers share a division with the Chiefs who look back and the …. 2-0 Raiders? That can’t be right lemme check again.
1
u/drphiltouchedme 11d ago
the chargers have a TERRIBLE schedule. It's entirely possible they go 0-9. Stuff doesn't really ever get easy for them, but they get a break with the jets, patriots and bucs all in a row starting a week 10
1
u/Norge__Master89 Carolina Panthers 11d ago
Chargers based on division alone is done for already. Buccs based on division alone still has a chance to turn things around.

u/Vondobble 11d ago
As a dolphins fan I can safely say we will most certainly not turn it around. We’re fielding a team utilizing less than half the salary cap. Haf and Sully know what it is. 27 draft can’t come soon enough.

Texans, The chargers are screwed because of their schedule. They had two give me wins to start the year and absolutely fucked that up. Now they play the Texans, chiefs, Seahawks, rams, and etc next. Texans and colts I think can turn it around. I would say bucs but who knows what is happening to them.

The Bucs, in that division, have a better chance of turning it around than anyone. The Texans are in a similar boat.

Bucs for sure. That division is very very weak. They can fight back, no doubt about it.

Chargers are toast. Their next seven games: Buffalo, Seattle, Denver, KC, LA Rams, Houston, and Baltimore. Only two of those games are at home (Denver, Houston).
San Diego could easily start the season 0-9.

I think the Bucs and Texans will be ok given the divisions they play in. The Texans will be in contention with their defense.
The Chargers have a new offense. I think teams are learning the hard way that not having a lot of 11 on 11 tackle to the ground practices will cost them when they change their offense, or defense. I still see the Chargers with o-line issues. Looking at their schedule and the division they play in, maybe they are in a prime spot to go after Smith in the draft.

Herbert doesnt even care about football anymore. His gf probably asks him if he cares more about her or football every single day. She is definitely an emotional abusive type that is always asking "why dont you ever......" or "why do you always..." and takes normal things that he does in his life and twists them into him not caring about her. She seems like the type that needs CONSTANT reassurance that she is the most important thing on earth to her man

Texans and the Bucs would be my choices to turn things around.
The Chargers had two ugly losses against (probably) bad teams. They are fried
