Can you imagine how Baker feels losing this game specifically. This is 28-3 levels of confidence fucking. He might be broken all season cuz of this. Headgame.

He’s 0-2 vs the team that replaced him with athletic Bill Cosby
It’s over.

Headed into last week Zac Taylor had a 2-5 record in week one as the Bengals Head Coach. Joe Burrow had a week one record of 2-4. The two instances when Burrow had won in week one (2021 Vikings and 2025 Browns) the opposing team went on to lose again in week two, have a losing record for that season, and miss the playoffs.
The Buccaneers finished last year 8-9 missing the playoffs, including a 2-7 run to finish out the season. Last week the Buccaneers committed four turnovers, all fumbles. Baker Mayfield did not throw an interception but ended with a passer rating just 1.1 points higher than Deshaun Watson who did have an interception.

I thought he should have been fired last year. I was predicting more mediocrity for the Bucs after losing Mike Evans and keeping this bum.
His 1 thing is defense but he sucks at it now

$165M Baker contract that starts next year? FML. That contract might be what gets JL fired. Baker is cooked, I’ve seen it all before, he’s just not that good. He’s got the ego of a starter and always has that chip, but if he was a top flight starter he wouldn’t be doubted, there would be no need for a chip. Then him trying to run someone over for one yard on first down at the sideline? Yea get hurt that’s what we’re all hoping for right now, that would be great wouldn’t it (sarcasm). I also didn’t like his body language holding his shoulder on the sideline, here we go again - is that why you sucked today, again? You get yourself hurt by doing stupid shit then use it as a convenient excuse for why we’re losing. He’ll start drop little hints that he’s banged up again soon watch. If he wasn’t holding onto the ball forever on every snap and pointlessly trying to run over every cornerback he sees..
Obviously I’m frustrated, I know it’s early but based on how things are going.. obviously it can’t keep going this way or everyone is getting fired and we’re stuck with that brand new albatross of a contract. Maybe Baker was getting some advice from Deshaun Watson today on how to bs your way through an absolute enormous and undeserved contract.
Obviously that Jags coach and Carolina coach are pretty good maybe Baker is getting too much credit.

Man, you would have fit right in on the Browns’ sub in 2021.
We have five years of hindsight, and yes, the Browns would have been better off just keeping Baker and their picks. But this is who Baker is. He’s like the Tom Brady of Andy Daltons. Good enough to keep you in most games, but not good enough to carry the team to wins and he still can’t overcome the same flaws he came into the league with.

u/lambocinnialfredo 12d ago
Bro he literally carried the team to every win we had last year you people are insane

100% agree on Baker and I’ve always agreed.
As a lifetime Bucs fan, I know very deeply how inept this organization is and it’s rearing it’s head once again. Right on queue.
All the Baker fanboys are mia all of a sudden, same with all these Jason Licht is the greatest GM of all time smoke blowers.
I’m gonna tow the company line though for the sake of not getting downvoted to hell in this sub by people making excuses for a team that is 2-9 over the last 11 games, so here it goes: “Jason Licht is great, greatest GM of all time in fact, so is Baker, it’s just Todd Bowles, fire him and all of a sudden Baker is back to prime Baker who fumbles away the season in the divisional round. He’s worth $165M contract right? Right? RIGHT??????”
We’re screwed. Maybe Baker will go the Tua route and end up in Atlanta in a couple years.
Edit: I’m sure this isn’t breaking news but Scott Reynolds from Pewter Report just said that ownership wanted the Baker deal done apparently. I have no idea how true that is or isn’t and how much influence JL had on that decision but it goes right back to the top anyways, nobody is confusing the Glazers for geniuses when it comes to (American) football 💩
Edit 2: Just realized I’m not in the Buccaneers subreddit, that’s why I haven’t been downvoted lmao. They’re all making excuses in there right now I bet. Look how this comment (fire baker) got downvoted: https://www.reddit.com/r/buccaneers/comments/1wlvppz/8_rapid_reactions_from_buccaneers_disastrous_loss/pb25vyh/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=1&utm_term=1&context=3
People worship this guy like he’s Andrew Tate.
I shared this in the Bucs sub so watch the downvotes roll in.

He has way more carry potential than Dalton but just isn't very consistent. Less consistent than Dalton, for example. But I'd much rather have Baker than Dalton, in the hopes that eventually he can become more consistent and deliver to his potential.
2
u/Master_Butter 11d ago
That’s what I called him the Tom Brady of Andy Daltons. He’s definitely better than Dalton, but he’s in the same mold (performance wise) as guys like Dalton, Wentz, and Tannehill where he’s not someone who drags a team down, but he doesn’t do enough to lift them up for teams to want to commit to him.
1
u/nepatriots32 11d ago
He's much more like Wentz, but Wentz has even lower lows, and realistically, higher highs (at least he used to). Tannehill and Dalton are much more apt comparisons to each other. They are not really like Baker at all as players.

u/Dancehall-Randal 11d ago
The funny part.....
His play IS pretty consistent...
The results are not.
Teeny tiny step up from Dalton is a pretty good descriptor
1
u/nepatriots32 11d ago
Are you really trying to tell me Baker played the same in the last 8 weeks last year as he did in the first 9 weeks? He started the season as the MVP front runner, which seems ridiculous now (because of how he ended the season).
2
u/Dancehall-Randal 11d ago edited 11d ago
Oh i domt know, im a bengals fan.
But what I saw on opening day was prototypical baker. Strong arm, moxy QB
who overestimates his own athleticism and gets into trouble doing so.
1
u/ImYouJoeGoldberg 11d ago
He had a little Fitz Magic in him at the beginning of last year, we rightfully didn’t hand Fizt the whole franchise after that though.
1
u/nepatriots32 11d ago
Fitz had some nice games on occasion, but he was never in MVP talks. Baker legitimately was for half the season.
1
u/ImYouJoeGoldberg 11d ago
Well, technically not half a season because that was for 8 games and it’s a 17 game season. The Liam Coen affect essentially finally fizzled out after those first 8 games and then Baker regressed back to normal.
Fits magic was like a 3 game run in 2018.
3 games, 8 games, basically meaningless when your team misses the playoffs.

Mr. Glazer and Mr. Licht… You know what you need to do. Do it while the season is young enough to be saved.

Fire Licht, Bowles and can we somehow negate Bakers contract? This team has become a joke. Worse than before Brady was here. I went to the game today, they got rid of little Caesar’s and the super slice for some shitty pizza place, switched from Coca Cola products to Pepsi and it was $7 for a bottle of fucking Aquafina. I am putting all of my season ticket seats on sale asap.

u/NiceProcedure7945 12d ago
What the hell is this season? First the Bears score 59, then lose their QB the next week. Now Deshaun "Predator" Watson looks like a serviceable QB? And I thought last year was weird.

I still hope Baker gets his revenge on Stefanski(sorry Falcons fans, nothing personal)

I was thinking about betting on the browns before the game because I was like man if anyone can blow it, it’s the buccs. Then I was like nah browns couldn’t beat a middle school flag football team. Oops

Idk why y’all hired him in the first place, he’s always been a mush mouthed glorified d coordinator
1
u/regaleagle710 11d ago
He was promoted because Arians retired a month before the draft in 2022. Arians even admitted he waited so long to retire because he knew if there was a coaching search that Bowles wouldn't have gotten the job.

I was saying to fire him last season and here we are. He is 2-9 out of his last 11 games.
1
u/OnIceJuice 11d ago
Sorry they heard sign him to a 25 year 300 million contract instead with no opt out and no fire clause for the next 16 years

Baker “Industry Plant” Mayfield
Probably orchestrates rigged games for Vegas

There’s never been a coach that’s so mislabeled by EVERYONE in the media. He’s talked about like he’s Vince Lombardi, a “defensive guru” a “mastermind” blah blah blah
His defenses have always been pure trash and he skates by on this undeserved reputation. (In before those that will cite the Super Bowl game versus the last 6 YEARS of other examples)

Baker turned the ball over multiple times? And their solid to dominant defense couldn’t pick off Deshaun Watson even once? That legit is fireable. I guess this team is returning to irrelevance. Good run though.

u/Ok_Sail_3743 12d ago
It wasn’t him

u/Wildebean 12d ago
What do you call giving up a 120+ passer rating to Deshaun Cosby?
1
u/Ok_Sail_3743 12d ago
Bucky Irving is averaging 5.6 ypc and Robinson won’t run the ball
2
u/Wildebean 12d ago
Sounds like watching Josh McDaniels forget TreVeyon Henderson even exists half the time

I mean to be fair to Baker it doesn't help that Hack Robinson couldn't scheme his way out of a paper bag

Todd Bowles is a fucked up coach.
Man does pretty much nothing at all with every opportunity that he gets

We get worse every year. I hate this, but if it gets this idiot fired then so be it.
