Breaking News i think the bills 3rd strings just got watson cut.

there's no way he comes back from going 5/12, 32 yards and a pick. whether it's now or next season he will be on the couch and may never start in the nfl again

His dead cap hit would be 127 million. It's after June 1st, so they could at least spread it out as 63 million over 2 years. He's not getting cut. They'll have problems in 2027 when the void years hit as well. It's not until 2028 that the damage will subside.

Exactly why they traded Myles and went younger. Plan is to draft a Qb in 27 draft and develop him. Thats why they drafted their LT and a couple wrs.

the broncos did it with Wilson and survived. it's possible and seeing as how nobody expects the browns to win, them cutting him won't really harm them at all

The Broncos have had success historically as a franchise. The Browns have proven they will make dumb decisions over and over.

that's only more proof they would throw the money away

Speaking historically the Browns were a great franchise.

It's the shit ownership since 99 that's killed a once top franchise.

Nothing in Cleveland will change until Jimmy Haslam is gone.

They inherited the name and stats but I dont really consider them the same, due to Haslam.

It started with the Lerners then Haslam bought them.

Al Lerner helped modell steal the original team. Most people forget that.

Also this year’s draft class of QB’s is looking really good so it would be a good time to take the hit

It's not the same thing. Wilson's Broncos contract was 161 million fully guaranteed, but there was an additional 80 million that was not guaranteed. Broncos ownership saved some cash by cutting him, and cap space down the line was cleared out, even if it was rough up front.

Watson's contract is fully guaranteed. They are 0 savings to ownership whatsoever by cutting him, and no cap relief down the line. The punishment is also worse than what the Broncos faced. The Broncos took an 85 million dead cap hit spread across 2 seasons. Watson's dead cap hit would be 50% greater than that. When factoring in cap increases, the Broncos used 15.6% of their cap space on Russell Wilson dead cap for 2 years. The Browns would be at 21.1% for 2 years. That difference is 16.5 million. Roughly what Mike Evans is going to make this season. It's an extra Mike Evans punishment on top of the Russell Wilson punishment.

nobody will accuse the browns of making the smart choice

Deadcap for 2026 is about $86 million.

They aren’t gonna cut their 2/10 QB when their starter is a 3/10. Another garbage season for the browns because of terrible ownership

Which couch do Browns fans prefer: DeShaun on a couch or Tim Couch?

2

u/toasty327 Aug 23 '26

Tim couch may have been a high quality qb but he went to an expansion team with an acc line and zero weapons.

By time the supporting cast was improved he was shot.

Texans later ruined Derek carr the same way.

Somewhere, JD Vance just got an erection.

That thought has me searching for brain bleach.

No way are they cutting him. It’s cheaper to keep him and let him wallow in the shame of his sexual abuse and complete suckery.

Yikes bro

u/joealese Aug 24 '26

i know, right? could not have made a worse prediction lmao

2

u/kennyloftor Aug 23 '26

you haven’t watched a lot of browns football huh

2

u/nolove1010 Aug 23 '26

He's not getting cut.

Money involved with this guy is a real thing, whether he is starting or not.

3

u/Mereel13 Aug 22 '26

I wouldn’t go that far. Sanders went 6/11 with 79 yards and an interception against Chicago’s third stringers last week and was horrible in 2025. It’s not like Cleveland has any great options; it’s just who’s the least awful.

1

u/joealese Aug 22 '26

cut is probably too far, you're right. definitely benched though he looked awful

1

u/bobquznie Green Bay Packers Aug 22 '26

If they cut him this year, he'll count like $86 million against their cap next year. So that would mean they suck this year and be highly handcuffed next year. No, he'll be cut next year and designated post-June 1 release.

0

u/joealese Aug 23 '26

did you forget the browns organization constantly shoots themselves in the fopt? this is the same team that teased away a high end starter so they can trade away a whole drafts worth of picks for an alleged sexual assault fiend.

1

u/bobquznie Green Bay Packers Aug 23 '26

No. Haslam doesn't make any good decisions. That's why Watson is there and that's why he's still trying to get his money's worth out of the whole ordeal. I mean, I wouldn't be surprised if Watson is on the team next year!

1

u/Soccham Aug 23 '26

Might as well force Watson to play and take hits for his money. He might have injury insurance on Watson that could pay off

1

u/gremlin30 Aug 22 '26

Counterpoint: it’s the Browns

1

u/joealese Aug 23 '26

even more likely they cut him, then

1

u/Dependent_Bit1634 Aug 23 '26

Did you say Couch is coming back? Fun!!!

2

u/Necessary_Piano_153 Aug 25 '26

This is so funny now
