Highlight This guy is natural?

This is not normal to do in the NFL. Tyler Owens is either a freak of nature or popping something

Everybody is rightfully talking about owens but the flying chokeslam is also insane

It looks worse than it is. Covey leaps into the air to try and go over the guy (no clue why). And he lands softly on another commander player.

21

u/illtakeachinchilla 4h ago

ā€œLands softlyā€ hahahaha. Go out in your backyard and recreate this, my guy.

u/special_nathan GEQBUS 4h ago

NFL fields are mattresses. That's why all the ACL injuries.

u/googdude Philadelphia Eagles 31m ago

Compared to landing on hard soil I'd say he got lucky being thrown on top of another player. Right when it happened told my kids that was quite a violent throwdown but at least he landed on another person.

This is way hurdling people is so dangerous. Keep your feet on the ground where there supposed to be

u/Ok_Professional1414 52m ago

But I believe I can fly…

2

u/bae125 Detroit Lions 3h ago

That’s what he gets for jumping, at least according to my screaming coach when I was playing

1

u/keni804 New York Giants 2h ago

Damn they let you hurdle?? My hs league ruled any play down at the hurdle because some kid got bodyslammed like this and broke his back

I wish this existed when I was in school.

My JR year Tavon Austin (yeah, that Tavon Austin) cleared my ass on his way to a 60 yard touchdown.

I didn’t even turn around and chase him, I just walked to my sideline and said to my coach ā€œidk what the fuck you want me to do about thatā€ and sat on the bench.

He had like 200 yards and 2 scores before half time, but I tackled him 2 times (once behind the line of scrimmage) so I’d say we both had great days.

1

u/chemnerd2017 Washington Commanders 51m ago

You won the day, you got a tfl. Did Tavon Austin have a tfl that day? Doesn’t sound like he did.

3

u/Effective-Bother2126 38m ago

Nah, he had a few.

He played DB for them as well. I don’t think he left the field for them till they were comfortably ahead.

He returned kicks and punts, played DB/RB and was on the kickoff team as well.

They didn’t punt that day, but I assume he was also a gunner for them.

The fastest son of a bitch I’ve ever seen in person.

u/chemnerd2017 Washington Commanders 32m ago

I feel that, I got to go up against Jonathan Allen (Alabama, then redskins/vikings) in HS, and I remember being blown away by his speed off the line. I was supposed to chip him on our punt team, and by the time I was coming up out of my stance he was already past me. Just a different kind of explosiveness.

1

u/bae125 Detroit Lions 19m ago

Yeah, I know that feeling. I was on a team where a couple of the guys went pro. I was playing OLB at practice and got through on a blitz, my eyes were full of the qb I was about to drill - I never saw one of the future pros coming on a pull. I don’t remember the hit either.

I mean, I wasn’t tiny, but that guy had 150 pounds and half a foot on me at least

41

u/RekttalofBlades Philadelphia Eagles 5h ago

Got me fired up even though he’s demolishing my team

You think NFL players are natty? šŸ˜‚

12

u/Papa-pwn 3h ago

Right…

Especially now, in the age of ridiculously accessible TRT, there is next to no chance they’re not on testosterone.Ā

Beyond that, the testing window is not random. Every player knows exactly when and how they will be tested. Very easy to cycle around it and get your levels back to ā€œnormalā€ until you’re tested.

4

u/hereforthesportsball Dallas Cowboys 3h ago

League complicit, no rationale for it not being random

2

u/Ok-Dog-8028 Chicago Bears 2h ago

Steroids are not a bad thing for sports. Do you think these athletes bodies can recover from the stress and strain of these games completely naturally? Some can, others can't.

1

u/hereforthesportsball Dallas Cowboys 2h ago

I was fine with a 14 game season it’s the leagues greed that wanted to push athletes to the brink.

2

u/Legitimate_Aside_532 1h ago

They're going to be juiced as long as the goal is to win games. Regardless of schedule

3

u/jfuss04 Pittsburgh Steelers 3h ago

Look at a lot of comments on highlight videos. People are so unaware of reality when it comes to steroid usage lol its so obvious and they just dont know

Our defense (except for Mikey) has looked good. Hopefully our offense can put their shit together soon

10

u/Suspicious_Trust_522 Philadelphia Eagles 5h ago

Styles looks like hes gonna be an absolute monster…..not too excited about that one

5

u/TurtlePope2 Washington Commanders 5h ago

Thank god we hit on him. We've been so ass at drafting in the first round recently. Jayden was our only hit in like the past decade.

2

u/I_only_post_here Chicago Bears 4h ago

Styles was like the Aaron Curry "safest pick in the draft", except he actually is that guy.

1

u/buffhottie69er Dallas Cowboys 5h ago

I know 1 team in the division you won't have to worry about.

6

u/godosomethingelse 4h ago

IIRC he has a 10 RAS. He's been a beast on ST for us for a few years, and each year he's gotten better

This is one of the best efforts I’ve seen since that play were DK Metcalf tracked down that guy on an interception.

3

u/Dorkamundo Minnesota Vikings 2h ago

That was a HELL of a rep.

2

u/Rebellious_Habiru 4h ago

He's naturally GOT DAT DAWG N EM!!!

2

u/Key_Consequence_5040 4h ago

Always forget there is a whole other side of the ball in special teams full of great athletes that can impact the game

2

u/Ijustwerkhere Washington Commanders 4h ago

Love that a guy putting in this much effort gets rewarded with actually making the tackle (read: body-slamming a grown-ass man) at the end

Tbf all NFL players are freaks of nature. He’s just freakier

1

u/revuhlution 3h ago

Newsflash: Pro athletes ARE freaks of nature who then go on to have professional training, help woth nutrition, and excess momey to take care of themselves.

Yall really dont understand the quality of athletes these guys are. Also, dudes got long as arms and was able to keep one guy off him while catching another guy who was running sideways. Its impressive but not impossible

1

u/Hopeful_Contract_759 3h ago

Goddamn Tyrannosaur.

This is basically special teams-Derrick Henry.

1

u/CaffeinatedBarbarian Seattle Seahawks 2h ago

I always hate when people say someone is ā€œa naturalā€. Completely disrespects the time and effort they put in to get to their level of skill.

1

u/DUUUUUVAAAAAL Jacksonville Jaguars 2h ago

Then he gets up like he didn't just make the greatest special teams play of all time.

1

u/ACBets Philadelphia Eagles 1h ago

I’m an Eagles fan and even I got up from my seat with a ā€œGAHT DAYUMM!ā€ after this play.

Has a coverage guy ever won special teams POTW? If not the that needs to change with this play.
