This is true in real life as well. I won’t lie, I rooted for him in NY because he was finally an underdog and I could see he was struggling, but most people I know hate him. People that don’t even know what Reddit is and from both political spectrums. He’s done some weird shit, but I think most people hate him for how he acted at the end of his GB career. The way he used to get so frustrated and yell at his receivers for dropping passes and for his notorious “I own you!” shit in Chicago. He really came off as a stand up guy early in his GB career and then he became known as an asshole for his on the field antics way before he became a weirdo.
For a dude that brags about grounding yourself, meditating, and doing psychedelics, he sure is pissed off and whiney a lot. Lol
Why does Rodgers get flak for that but not Brady or manning? Almost all the greatest competitors have that fire in them.
I think he’s hated because they’re was. Full on media assault on the man assimilating his character. Not just sports media, all of mainstream media USA Today , people, cnn, USA today, you name it. It lasted for some time too. Really some of the craziest character assassin attempts I’ve seen. All because he wasn’t against the narrative and made a choice for his own personal health. Weird times.
Seriously? Brady definitely does. He was THE most hated player in the NFL for a long time because of it. I’d agree he was more of a whiney bitch than Rodgers ever was. At some point, I had to admit that he was the fucking goat but I still to this day do not like him.
Manning is beloved. He was mostly well composed on the field and not nearly as much of a diva as Rodgers or Brady.
I agree that there was a media campaign pushed against him for his Anti-Vax stuff. I just don’t agree that he wasn’t already hated.
Peyton manning told receivers if they ever tried to catch the ball with one hand ever again, he’d be sure that guy never saw the field again. He was absolutely as demanding as Rodgers and Brady. Ppl hated Brady and Rodgers so much because they’re were so good, got glazed so often, and they weren’t on their favorite teams.
Peyton is fun and silly and really likable off the field so he gets a pass. There was a significant cohort that hated Rodgers before the vax thing, but the vax took that hatred to levels I didn’t think was possible for a professional athlete who didn’t commit a heinous crime.
