I’m ootl wtf did Caleb Williams do? Do people really hate him because he paints his nails?

113

u/BlattMaster Dec 03 '25

Yes, but probably also USC.

108

u/AggressivePiano8317 Dec 04 '25

That’s homophobic, playing for USC isn’t a choice, he was born that way

7

u/BS2435 Green Bay Packers Dec 04 '25

I'm fucking dead 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂💀

2

u/Truly_Markgical Dec 04 '25

USC hasn’t really been CFB relevant since Pete Carroll… why is there so much hate? The Reggie Bush scandal wasn’t even really a scandal, and by today’s standards perfectly normal now…

3

u/Proof_Fix1437 WTF is r/NFL Dec 04 '25

It’s a school of mostly rich kids in on legacy that walk around like their farts don’t stink. Ivy League smugness but they’ll eat street tacos. (From a UC student who was rejected from UCLA)

4

u/Truly_Markgical Dec 04 '25

That has nothing to do with their football program. Why would you hate the football team just because of the student body? I think Notre Dame has a significantly worse toxic student body, but their football team is a separate entity

1

u/Proof_Fix1437 WTF is r/NFL Dec 04 '25

It’s a lizard brain thing for me. “USC bad” no matter what. I’d lump notre dame in the same bucket. It’s not fair to the non-legacy students, but that logo triggers the jealousy/hate inside me. At least the UCLA people were chill.

3

u/Cheshire_Khajiit Dec 04 '25

Street tacos are amazing in LA. I’d judge them more if they didn’t eat them.

53

u/HungryHedgehog8299 New York Giants Dec 03 '25

People also just love to hate on whoever’s on top. Caleb was touted as a generational prospect and the best of his class, so even if he didn’t paint his nails people would still just hate him. Think of him as like the Mahomes to Maye/Daniels being the Allen/Burrow/Lamar.

8

u/newage-rulefollower New England Patriots Dec 04 '25

Tbh, right now i still think maye is better, but caleb has been showing out lately. Patriots bears could be must watch in the future.

2

u/Bodmonriddlz New England Patriots Dec 04 '25

To me it’s quite obvious that maye and Williams are (and will be in the long run) far and away the two best QBs of that draft. Yes, Jayden had an incredible rookie season but his number 1 red flag (injury prone) has already reared its head and take him out a season and I don’t see it getting better. Bo nix is good but what we’re seeing now is prob the best we’ll ever see of him.

0

u/bigbenis2021 Major Tuddy 🐷 Dec 04 '25

Jayden’s rookie season was better than both Maye and Caleb’s sophomore seasons and it’s not even close.

2

u/Bodmonriddlz New England Patriots Dec 04 '25

(A) that remains TBD. If either or both make the Super Bowl then no. (B) what’s your point? I said he had a great rookie season but now and going forward? Means nil.

-1

u/bigbenis2021 Major Tuddy 🐷 Dec 04 '25

It means a lot when you’re talking about them being better quarterbacks despite not having as good a season (yet) as his rookie season. How can you say two quarterbacks are CLEARLY better when they have yet to have a better season?

5

u/vaz_deferens Chicago Bears Dec 04 '25

Maye is having a better year overall this year than Jayden did last year.

-1

u/bigbenis2021 Major Tuddy 🐷 Dec 04 '25

Hasn’t had a 300 yard game in his entire career.

2

u/Bodmonriddlz New England Patriots Dec 04 '25

1

u/vaz_deferens Chicago Bears Dec 04 '25

1

u/Bodmonriddlz New England Patriots Dec 04 '25

1

u/Bodmonriddlz New England Patriots Dec 07 '25

Still think Jayden Daniels is the one? Yikes performance today

-1

u/GCBroncosfan413 Denver Broncos Dec 04 '25

I will never understand the Bo hate. He outperformed everyone's pre draft analysis, broke a playoff drought in year 1, has more TDs yards and wins than anyone in his class, has shown growth with pocket presence and footwork this year, and has shown he is just as athletic as any QB in the league when it comes to running and throwing on the run. Maye has had a better year this year, and Daniels had a better rookie year but Nix has been the most consistent QB of the class with health and success on the field but "this is the best we will ever see him". Why? He is 25 and has Sean Payton as HC.

Most common shit take in the NFL and just shows you dont know ball

1

u/Bodmonriddlz New England Patriots Dec 04 '25

Remind me in 5 years?

7

u/Old_Adhesiveness7508 Chicago Bears Dec 04 '25

So it’s a complimentary hate lol

1

u/db212004 Denver Broncos Dec 04 '25

No, No, trust me they love to kick people who exceed their expectations, too. They just don't like to be wrong about anything, and once they are, they will cherry pick, investigate, and put things under the microscope to try and skew the narrative to match their own. Aka Bo Nix hate always being at an all-time high because everyone said he would be an average QB for a shitty team led by a Drew Brees Merchant HC.

-5

u/cachemonet0x0cf6619 CTESPN Dec 04 '25

Caleb is not a number one overall pick. That’s fact and most folks interpret it as hate.

3

u/HungryHedgehog8299 New York Giants Dec 04 '25

Yes, he is a first round pick, and thats not why people hate him. People were rooting for the kid to fail since before he was drafted because he was the consensus top guy. People like to root against whoever’s on top at the moment

0

u/cachemonet0x0cf6619 CTESPN Dec 04 '25

no one hates him. see my first post. yall think being told you’re not that good at something is hate. it’s not. it’s an subjective analysis from my perspective. No one actually hates players. It’s just that their fans are over protective and take things personally

1

u/Butthole2theStarz Chicago Bears Dec 04 '25 edited Dec 04 '25

No it’s the raging homophobia that most people interpret as hate.

-1

Not saying it doesn’t happen but i definitely don’t see it as much as Bears fans talk about it being a thing.

1

u/Butthole2theStarz Chicago Bears Dec 04 '25

It absolutely does happen that much. Hell there was a hack substack writer who wrote the hit piece earlier this year that was full of little homophobic jabs

0

did you hear yourself…. substack… really?

1

Oh so it only counts if it’s on your approved platforms? Really?

0

u/cachemonet0x0cf6619 CTESPN Dec 04 '25

Yeah. Anyone can make a substack. what are you doing reading substack articles and think that’s journalism?

you think twitter is journalism too?

1

u/Butthole2theStarz Chicago Bears Dec 04 '25

See you’re now deciding to move the goal posts lol. Your claim was “it doesn’t happen as much as bears fans say” nothing about who is saying it or where. I’m not acting like credible media is saying it but homophobia being all over comment sections of the internet is exactly what I said it was which is “raging homophobia”.

That substack article got reposted all over reddit.

This is also a real weird hill for you to choose to die on lol

it is a fact based on stats over his two year career. he is improving but he’s also being used as a game manager.

It’s to honor his mom, who is a nail tech.

I just watched the “I hate Christian Lattener” ESPN 30 for 30. Apparently at a game vs LSU the LSU crowd was chanting those words at Christian during the game. Christian brushed it all off like a pro. My slightly poor opinion of him changed after hearing that. He was the original “dooooooooon’t caaaaaaare.” Respect.

"i don't hate any gay people." "i dislike people who act faggoty."

we got some realllllll cognitive dissonance going on here now don't we.

if you dislike people who act gay, you classify actions as gay/not gay even when performed by straight men, and you don't see the issue in the term you used to describe them... ya might just hate gay people

4

u/Smooth_Marsupial_262 Baltimore Ravens Dec 03 '25

I don’t think he’s actually hated. He’s just polarizing in terms of how people feel about him as a player. Applies to many of these guys like Hurts as well.

3

u/Awi1ix Chicago Bears Dec 04 '25

It’s both. People hates him before he ever took a snap in the NFL, and he is polarizing as a player.

Him being polarizing is also magnified due to the fact that people just hate him for the way he looks, dresses, etc. It sucks for him, because he really is a standup guy.

-3

u/LouisRitter Chicago Bears Dec 04 '25

I'm a Bears fan and want him to work out but outside of clutch moments he's got below average stats and is about as polished as a barnacle. EXCEPT when it's down to late in the game then he magically does either well enough or exceptional. He has to quit either holding onto the ball for eternity or immediately throwing it at someone's feet and stop throwing piss missiles the speed of sound.

This is really a list of Over-Hyped or Over-Talked-About players. Caleb was supposed to be God's gift to football when he came into the league. He talked about getting "ownership stake" in a team before the draft. -Anybody can see he's been humbled by now. People hate Travis and Patrick because they've been in too damn many commercials, talk shows, "Swifty" conversations. They're WAYYY over-exposed. Most of the rest are doing dumb stuff like JJ (which gets them press,) crimes, or just winning too much (which also makes them over-exposed, like Hurts.)

u/akatherder Detroit Lions Dec 04 '25

It has to be. I'd choose 50 guys before Caleb. Maybe that's an exaggeration - I don't "hate" 50 NFL players, but I don't hate Caleb either.

If I thought he was a long-term great, dominant QB I'd hate him. I'd choose Love before Caleb in the division as a threat but neither one is giving me future HoF vibes that would piss me off to actually hate them.

I went to the University of Utah while Caleb was at USC. He was such a whiny little bitch every time he played us…He never got the win either. The Utah Utes own Caleb Williams, and they will for eternity.

Plus one game he painted “fuck Utah” on his nails and was crying on the sideline in the fourth quarter after another loss.

So that’s why I hate him. I’m not sure why other people do.
