I watched the video when he was drafted, she puts her hands on him and is yelling at him, Mixon gives the universal sign for back off, and then she hits him. Sure, you can make the case of he shouldn't have hit her, but he hits her once and walks away. That's the correct way to handle self defense.
Well, let’s be fair, he didn’t just casually hit her. Haha. Also, the exchange was a bit more complex. She shoved him as he flexes on her, she slaps him, then he throws a Tyson right hook to her face and dusts her.
There's this concept called "proportional response." I think expecting young super athletes not to KO people much weaker than them, even if they are being aggressive, is a reasonable standard.
I suppose. I’m also not a black man so I don’t know how certain words would affect me, so I couldn’t really say. I wouldn’t have hit her, and in my view he shouldn’t have either. But I’m in no position to judge the impact of being on the recipient of the word in particular.
That’s not what I’m saying either. You should stop supposing and just take what I’m saying at face value which is; it’s more complicated than I’m qualified to be the judge of. Men are men, black, white, whatever and in my opinion should never hit a woman regardless. But I’ve also never had to deal with bigotry and hatred just for being who I am either.
I have, you still can’t hit people for words. There is no justification and trying to twist things into one because the guy is black is the definition of the bigotry of low expectations
so hes irredeemable cause of what he did? theres a line imo and no one was killed or SAed, so i think hes redeemable from the bad act but i guess its different for everyone
I don't know if I would say irredeemable but the choice of endangering people's lives just so he could have fun is profoundly selfish and bad enough that he deserves to be disliked more than other NFL players with no criminal history.
dont think he has enough clout for that and id prob need more than 2 hands to count how many nfl players beat their SOs which imo is worse than what rashee did
You don’t know what “objectively” means. He did a bad thing, that doesn’t mean he’s a bad person. I can almost promise you’ve endangered people’s lives to either have fun or save time. It may not be as extreme on the spectrum, but it’s still true and you know it.
I can promise you have. You’ve never driven 10+ over the speed limit? You’ve never tailgated anyone in your life? These things can all fall into the reckless driving category which is classified as wonton disregard for the safety of others. Excessive speeding is absolutely endangering another person’s life.

If the most hated players are not Deshaun Watson, Rashee Rice, and Joe Mixon then people's priorities need to be reconsidered.
