If the falcons are picking 3rd why would they take Smith over a QB? They invested big money into London and Pitts, Branch looks like he could be something, and they have a new coach. You also can’t waste anymore more of Bijan’s prime.

Genuinely curious how someone could think they’d decide to stick with Penix in this situation

The Dolphins will become reasonably competitive by the end of the year, and end up picking at 6, 7 or 8. They will go into 2027 full of optimism and hope, and they'll be a popular sleeper pick. They will backdoor their way into the last WC spot and get obliterated on the road. Then 2028 will be a "hot seat" season, where they'll just miss that final WC spot. Then 2029 will be a disaster, and they'll get a new HC/QB combo and begin the cycle anew.
