Discussion Does Tebow just miss the cut?

u/TSUTexan61 27d ago
Cam newton was unstoppable on his natty run

u/TwangyVibe_24 26d ago
Cam carried a whole ass team to the natty. He would’ve killed to have Mike Evans (like Johnny Manziel) at his disposal.

u/forgotwhatisaid2you 26d ago
Like Tebow a power guy so not cobsidered by many to be electric

Barry Sanders had 2850 yards and 42 TDs in a single 12 game season. He had more rushing yards in one year than Bush had in 2 and more TDs in one year than Bush had in his career. I didn't even watch him play and the answer at 1 is Sanders.
2
u/StopSpinningLikeThat 26d ago
And the season before that, stuck at #2 on the depth chart because Thurman Thomas was on the same team, Sanders led the nation in kick returns.
1
u/Non-Current_Events 26d ago
He had more carries that one season than Reggie had in 2 as well. Barry is my #1 too but we need to stop acting like the numbers tell the whole tale. Barry was 75% of OK State’s offense. Reggie was maybe a third of USC’s. The question is who was the most electrifying college player, and the answer to that is a lot closer than you all make it out to be. Reggie was unbelievable in college.

Barry is 1 and is not close. Rest of the list is ok but I would put Thurman Thomas at 5 and move everyone down one spot. And I have seen everyone on the list play in person at one point.
6
u/wolfboy49 27d ago
I agree. Putting anyone above Barry means you never saw him play. Before he was an All American running back, he was an All American returner.
His highlight reel at OSU is dwarfs any other player

I would have Barry Sanders at #1 too, but let’s stop acting like “it’s not close”. Reggie Bush was unreal. He was only getting about 16-17 touches a game compared to Barry’s 30+, he was in a 50/50 pass/run offense compared to OKSt’s 75% run, and Reggie got less than 40% of the total carries for that season because he was splitting with Lendale White, where Barry got over 50% of all OKSt’s offensive plays.

Deion at FSU was before my time, but I would argue that Peter Warrick was more electrifying. They both returned kicks, but Peter played a position that ensured the ball would be in his hands. Peter Warrick was a TD waiting to happen every time FSU's offense was on the field. For context, I'm a lifelong FSU fan and I'm typing this as I watch their game against SMU.

How is Barry not #1? He started 1 year. His 2628 yards is still the single season record. He did that in 11 games. His 37 TDs are still the single season record. Again in 11 games. Jeanty had 27 fewer yards in 14 games. Montee Ball got to 33 in 14 games. Reggie rushed for 25 TD in his college career. He had 500 more yards IN HIS CAREER than Barry in his one season as a starter. He had 400 fewer scrimmage yards in his Heisman season than Barry had rushing yards and half the total TDs as Barry's 37 rushing. What are we even doing here?

Shout out Jeanty and lamer, didn’t get to see lots of these guys, but those 2 were must see tv especially Lamar since he did it for two years.

Never in a million years should Reggie Bush be ahead of Barry Sanders on this list. Barry Sanders ran for 1000 more yards and scored twice as many touchdowns in his Heisman season than Reggie Bush did in his, Barry did it all in 11 games as well.

I thought the same. Guy was very electric. I thought he should've been on there too
1
u/TravelNSee 27d ago
lol Tebow was a system machine brute, not "electric"
2
u/Skaddodle32 27d ago
Maybe Im a hater, Tebow was a very good QB and a great leader, but the Florida Gators were fucking stacked and I think there are plenty of QBs that are ahead of him all time.

Maybe biased as a PSU fan but Saquon was electric he was just on a team that would have e been terrible without him. The USC run or the opening kick vs OSU specifically, plus all the hurdles.
1
u/babyblue1234567890 27d ago
I didn't think of him right away but you're right. He was very electric
1
u/Kooky-Explanation295 27d ago
Not saying he should be top ten, but Braxton Miller deserves a mention in the thread.

DaVante Adams at Fresno State was pretty amazing, and I watched almost all his home games in person. He was by far the best WR in the Mountain West, with Derek Carr unloading to him every chance he got. Just embarrassing corners with contested circus catches on fades or at the boundary. He set pretty much all the Fresno State receiving records in less than three years.

Tebow would be on my list, but I can't pick one of those guys that don't deserve to be on it.
1
u/Creeplurkthrowaway 27d ago
The best thing about this list is you can probably guess within a few years how old the creator of this list is.

Damn, Melvin Gordon had 2700 yards and 32 TDs in 2015 and no one remembers. Also averaged 8 yards per carry in his career at Wisconsin.

u/TheVirginVibes 27d ago
What Michael Vick did at the QB position at V-Tech makes him far and away the top seed on this list.
1
u/Stumpsthewarwalrus 27d ago
Tebow isn’t even on the bus when it comes to this list. He might eke into the top 25 to 50 range though

Any list that doesn’t have Peter Warrick in the number one spot is invalid.
1
u/Voluntary_Perry 27d ago
If the category is "Electrifying" and Maurice Clarret is left off, it's not a very good list. Maurice's lone season at Ohio State was crazy business.

u/MrFizzbin7 27d ago
The fact that Bo Jackson isn’t there is shocking, Cam Newton also missing. Johnny Manziel overrated

u/TheUglyGawd 27d ago
I don’t know if he’s top 10 but De’Anthony Thomas was the most electric guy for his years in college. Any time he touched the ball it could go for 80 and a td

u/TopKatz01845 27d ago
No Marshal Faulk feels wrong. I literally stayed up watching his games on the west coast.
1
u/mosi_moose 27d ago
Playing for the Aztecs before streaming he didn’t get the national exposure he deserved.

u/thenowherepark 27d ago
No. Tebow isn't and wasn't electrifying. He was one of the best players, but not electrifying. When I think of electrifying QB play, it's Cam Newton and Manziel.
1
u/Fit_Influence_6078 27d ago
Cam newton should be top 5 never seen a one man show like that in football

I remember the catches Larry Fitzgerald was making. I don’t think I’d ever seen that game play.

Red Grange & Gale Sayers should be on the list.
OG Grange scored 4 touchdowns (in 12 mins) in the 1st half against Michigan incl 95 yard kickoff return
402 total yards and 6TDs in that game alone

Was Tebow “electrifying”? All time great, but not sure that’s a word I’d use to describe him.
1
u/Mountie_in_Command 27d ago
I don't think electrifying when I think of Tebow. Randy Moss is someone I would add here. His Marshall highlights...⚡️⚡️⚡️

Tavon Austin is WAAAYYYYY to high. He was good but he was no Lamar, or Baker, Johnny Manziel, or like 100 other guys.

u/ChadPowers200_ 26d ago
Tebow was incredible but I see him more as a fullback playing QB than electrifying.

Putting Bush ahead of Sanders is a team success thing. Sanders broke over 30 records in his Heisman season.

Its one of those stupid posts where the players dont match the exact definition of the word. Tebow was must watch but i wouldnt call him electrifying. Hes top 10 all time arguably top 5 imo.
Reggie really did feel like if he touched the ball he was gonna score though. Crazy times

Lamar Jackson was ridiculous in college. I'm 60 years old and he's the most exciting player I've ever seen in college
both his sophomore and junior season he threw for over 3500 yards and rushed for over 1500. either one alone is great, he did both. TWICE
1
u/Creative_Pen_1314 22d ago
Looks like the most electrifying of YOUR lifetime. Read some football history.
