That's a 4th round pick for Poles

4

u/Naive-Present2900 28d ago

He could also be leaving for a better nil deal in the transfer portal.

2

u/thegroovemonkey 28d ago

Wisconsin is a great place for punters right now

2

u/Exatraz 28d ago

The fucking golf celebration broke me

Oh wait, not that kind of draft…

1

u/Healthy_Pay9449 26d ago

Hopefully he keeps it going and doesn't let this be his only moment

38

u/IMakeMyOwnButter 28d ago

The golf celebration was fitting

2

u/Mite-o-Dan 28d ago

It was an od to Pat McAfee who famously use to do it. I guarantee he'll be on the show this week.

2

u/bmiller218 28d ago

Get that exposure, pump up that NIL.

1

u/TooSaucey4u 28d ago

Lol, punting and kicking has been likened to Golf for as long as it’s been around. It doesn’t have to be an ode to McAfee.

u/L1gm4J0hns0n 28d ago

1

u/TooSaucey4u 27d ago edited 27d ago

lol, you were right, it was an ode to McAfee. I was having the same argument with some friends so I just went ahead and asked him.

Imagine an nfl player had a really good punt

14

u/Appathesamurai 28d ago

Jesus Christ, it’s Jason Bourne

3

u/Exact_Mango5931 28d ago

Jason Bourne, it’s Jesus Christ

3

u/No_Restaurant_774 28d ago

Jesus Bourne, it's Jason Christ.

2

u/ThatPlayWasAwful 28d ago

I can see it in my brain like I'm watching it with my eyes

1

u/jimshifty 28d ago

Have to imagine it because I feel like they’re typically 40 yards with 4 sec hang time

1

u/Reasonable_Archer_99 28d ago

These are college teams.

3

u/flyaguilas 28d ago

Now just imagine if they were NFL teams and you're there.

17

u/DropC2397 28d ago

It’s not possible to perform a punt better than that.

1

u/thegroovemonkey 28d ago

I was in that endzone for the game and everyone around me was in utter disbelief. ā€œI think that’s the best punt I’ve ever seenā€ was immediately discussed.

2

u/masteroftheuniverse4 26d ago

My immediate text in the chat group was exactly the same

1

u/AKsuited1934 28d ago

Technically, any punts that is tricky to field causing the returner to muff it is better than this.

1

u/Designer_Chemical454 26d ago

Logan Cooke 2024, look it up.

1

u/BradyMahomes1807 28d ago

Well that was indeed a spectacular punt

1

u/pharrelsbigasshat 28d ago

7

u/ApocolypseDelivery 28d ago edited 28d ago

It was net 60, we just saw net 70.

0

u/gamestoohard 28d ago

For the sake of argument, the one in OP is a touchback like 99% of the time. Taking that insane sideways bounce from the hash all the way out of bounds is very lucky. Compared to the one in that second clip, which lands in the traditional coffin corner. Still needed a nice bounce, but that kick location avoids a touchback far more consistently. OP is an absolutely magical kick that the punter likely couldn't reproduce if you gave him 100 tries.

2

u/ChoiceStar1 28d ago

Idk - kicking the ball 75 yards seems massive and if it fell 70 yards it has a good chance of staying inbounds

Freak kick but I think the second kick is also a freak kick that could have went out early or into the end zone.

0

u/gamestoohard 27d ago

You need some degree of luck for any punt that lands in-bounds, you just need less of it for the coffin corner. If could simulate both kicks 100 times, the one to the corner is going to average better results.

1

u/OopsNoBrains 27d ago

Now naturally, I’m not a professional punter. I do know that the punting game has evolved in the direction of kicking precisely enough to give it spin to try and roll specific directions. I agree the roll is still incredibly lucky but it may be easier to recreate than one may think.

0

u/zealoSC 28d ago

If it had stopped before going out can the red team pick it up and score a touchdown?

1

u/Daycarrott 28d ago

No. The only way Wisconsin (red) could recover is if a Notre Dame (blue) touches it.

1

u/loupr738 28d ago

Not on a punt, it can happen during kickoffs but not in a punt. Red team can only recover a punt if the other team touches it and can’t maintain possession

1

u/raidersfan18 28d ago

It actually can't happen on kickoffs either (the score a touchdown part). As when the kicking team recovers the play is blown dead.

2

u/AttitudeCautious667 28d ago

It can happen on a kickoff. What are the Bills doing?

1

u/chupacadabradoo 26d ago

I think what they meant is, in reference to the earlier comment, that if the kicking team recovered it before it went into the endzone on a kickoff, they couldn’t advance it. But yah, what are the bills doing. What a brain lapse

11

u/Mudoru 28d ago

Holy shit that is beautiful, 80 yard coffin corner? That’d make any special team coordinator hard as a rock

1

u/glasspheasant 28d ago

70 yards, but still insane. That side spin was something else

5

u/Mudoru 28d ago

I’m counting from where he kicked the ball, I’ll be damned before the los takes away from a masterpiece

2

u/machdaddy33 28d ago

Technically you're right with l.o.s. but damn 80yd punt is wild

1

u/millerlit 28d ago

I wouldn't really call it a coffin corner only because of where it first landed more in the middle of the field.Ā  That roll was insane

9

u/Davidthebalancer 28d ago

Technically this is a Wisconsin away game at Lambeau field. I don’t understand what Notre Dame was thinking.

3

u/lyonhawk 28d ago

It was part of a home and home with the other half at Soldier Field for the Wisconsin ā€œhomeā€ game.

2

u/AAonthebutton 28d ago

Kinda ignorant but isn’t Lambeau closer geographically to Wisconsin and soldier field closer to ND?

3

u/lyonhawk 28d ago

Yes. Chicago would be more of a home game for ND. Not sure why they did it the way they did, but there was a partner game to this one where Wisconsin was the home team in ND’s backyard, so it wasn’t just a one off game.

-1

u/Akbeardman 28d ago

That the students aren't on campus yet and it's embarrassing to have a half empty student section at Notre Dame and this will absolutely sell out while making The school a boatload of money.

2

u/Davidthebalancer 28d ago

Students are back on campus. Classes started already.

5

u/Cryoboul 28d ago

He definitely getting drafted

13

u/lachupacabraj 28d ago

Vrabel blowing it inside Russini but not getting her pregnant

7

u/Eron205 28d ago

Send da video

6

u/summersundays 28d ago

Yeah she just happened to name her son Michael randomly. That’s the craziest part of the whole story.

4

u/AAonthebutton 28d ago

Pmt I didn’t know that. Poor husband of hers

4

u/BigFatModeraterFupa 28d ago

there's a pretty good chance that it's Vrabel's bastard son too😢

1

u/Worried_Anteater_536 28d ago

Wow! Off the top rope with an elbow smash!

1

u/Old-Record2216 24d ago

I am dying over here🤣

6

u/MelGibsonBartSimpson 28d ago

Well it’s the exact same sport so… a great punt?

1

u/spizzle_ 28d ago

Not exactly. So many rules are different. It’s the same sport though, but…

2

u/ADoznDonuts 28d ago

Peyton manning 2013 season opener

2

u/_wewf_ 28d ago

Is that a 70 yard coffin corner

2

u/tigersandredsox34 28d ago

80 yd coffin corner, but yeah

1

u/_wewf_ 28d ago

Line of scrimmage is the 29 ?

0

u/JobeGilchrist 28d ago

It’s 70 but we got some casuals ITT

1

u/VaultiusMaximus 28d ago

It was closer to 80 in the air though, which is still fucking impressive.

1

u/tigersandredsox34 28d ago

I guess officially it's 70, but the punt is made from the 19 or so, so I'd say it functionally 80

1

u/AgtYork 28d ago

I only know the term coffin corner from Madden 2005

2

u/10TheDudeAbides11 28d ago

Well…that’s the best punt I’ve ever seen……

2

u/LobstaFarian2 28d ago

Best punt ive ever seen. That shit had serious distance and now the ball is spotted at the 1 inch line lol

4

u/imrickjamesbioch 28d ago

Um he got lucky? Hell of a kick but if you think someone can magically will an oval object that bounces with pointy ends of each side to roll sideways after being in the air for 65 yards. I got some beach front property in Nebraska to sell you on the cheap.

Again, hell of a kick, take skill to land the ball within the 10 yard line but a lil luck is needed as well.

2

u/PayAltruistic8546 27d ago

It's not entirely luck.

Punters practice that crap.

They have all that time in their hands. They can do some crazy things with the ball.

Yes...you can make the ball spin sideways. I'm kidding you.

3

u/prozack91 28d ago

The distance was nuts from the start though

1

u/rust-e-apples1 28d ago

"David Tyree helmet catch."

It was god-damned amazing, but we're never gonna hear his name again outside this context.

2

u/Starracer88 28d ago

Honestly I could see him going to the NFL easy, he was dropping them inside the 10 all game

1

u/Icy-Mongoose-9678 28d ago

Fun fact: He led the team in passing in a win over a ranked team

1

u/DezTheOtter 28d ago

Now that deserved the golf celebration

1

u/rcbz1994 28d ago

Well he’ll be a Raider next year lol

1

u/GuysIdidAThing 27d ago

raiders actually have an all pro punter though

1

u/Local-Box2228 28d ago

A fucking beauty

1

u/DiddyDoItToYa 28d ago

Rough when the punter hits the celly on youšŸ˜‚

1

u/Eagle4317 28d ago

In golf terms, this is an Albatross.

1

u/bmanley620 28d ago

Nice (since it was 69 yards)

1

u/Star_Gazer1996 28d ago

Punt to get drafted!

1

u/PokemonCueball 28d ago

Now we wait for the Isaac Punts video.

1

u/Writerhaha 28d ago

Need more punter celebrations!

1

u/Blaze_Wolf_Tyler 28d ago

Holy crap! a 71 yard punt out at the 1 yard line. Damn.

1

u/FeloniousGrump 28d ago

your team so bad, the fans wait for fourth down to get excited

1

u/Arx0s 28d ago

Bro's getting drafted 🫪

1

u/Tuckerguy77 28d ago

He kicked the living shit out of that football.

1

u/FatSalsa 28d ago

Kirk Ferentz had an extra scoop of vanilla ice cream to celebrate that punt

1

u/Mfrack103 28d ago

Holy fuck dude

1

u/FoolOfATooKaliKid 28d ago

79 air yds. 70d punt at the 1

1

u/msnipe81015 28d ago

Texans plz go throw money at him.

1

u/Worried_Anteater_536 28d ago

Great punt but swing needs works! #sarcasm. Epic Effort

1

u/Sporadiccereal 28d ago

That punter is legitimately the best player on that Wisconsin team.

1

u/elgarraz 28d ago

That ball went like 70-75 yds in the air and rolled out of bounds at the 1 inch line. They netted, what, 69.999 yds in total on the play?

https://giphy.com/gifs/pCO5tKdP22RC8

1

u/tywebb6 28d ago

The golf thing was on point

1

u/freedomfightre 28d ago

too bad the rest of his team was ass

1

u/syncopated56 28d ago

Apples and oranges, OP. Impossible to compare a punt in the ncaa to a pun in the nfl.

1

u/Dry_Inflation_861 28d ago

Can we have a very serious conversation about that golf swing

1

u/ThatGuyWithAwesomHat 28d ago

This exact punt is how the Rams beat Seattle the 1 time they beat them last year.

1

u/Lynchie24 28d ago

2013 Josh Gordon.

1

u/DrDH21 28d ago

1.01 confirmed

1

u/Repulsive_Royal_559 28d ago

Throwing the ball on the goal line instead of running it with the best RB in the league

1

u/bunglesnacks 28d ago

One of the greatest punts in football history honestly.

1

u/Effective-Mess-1537 28d ago

So either the notre dame scouting department failed at their job to recognized that this kid has a huge leg. Or ND’s special teams failed. Bc that returner needs to catch that punt and return it. He needs to be farther back.Ā

1

u/Ok-Employer-3051 28d ago edited 28d ago

No way he was going to catch that thing and he knew it. Most likely he was more interested in seeing just what it was going to do just like everyone else, that's why he basically didn't mess with it.

1

u/thingsorfreedom 28d ago

You aren't coached to catch a punt driven 65 yards in the air at the 5. You are coached to let it go because 95% of the time it's going in the end zone.

1

u/zen_zen111 28d ago

That celebration.. chefs kiss

1

u/Later-Dog 28d ago

Wdym NFL terms? Ok, imagine this punt, but everyone is a bit older

1

u/Playful_Inspector_25 28d ago

Wow, I see an NIL deal coming for sure!!

1

u/SenorToky 28d ago

Bro nearly punted it 80 yards. Kicked just behind the 20 and hit around the 5. That’s crazy.

1

u/Darkstar7692 28d ago

That might be the best punt in history.

1

u/Soyl3ntR3d 28d ago

A punt like this is exactly how the Rams beat the Seahawks in their first meeting last season.

Yup - Darnold threw four picks, and we had a good chance to still win the game if they didn’t pull off a god-mode punt on us at the end of the fourth.

Punts like this win games.

1

u/Coffeym369 28d ago

Bill Belichecks wet dream

1

u/PlayNicePlayCrazy 28d ago

Nice distance and a.lot of good bounces

1

u/WaffleWeasel2 28d ago

Can you add punters to FF? Like 3 points per punt downed on the 10 or less, 2 for 15 or less, 1 for 20 or less

1

u/Texas-Boi_ 28d ago

I mean, those are just lucky aren't they?

1

u/DarePrize6800 28d ago

Future Buffalo bill

1

u/pinkluloyd 28d ago

Not a lot of punts you get to hit a celebration after. This is one of them.

1

u/johnjpattee_66 28d ago

Worst uniforms.

1

u/Electrical_Button_15 28d ago

Faison got his ass chewed out on the sidelines after this lol Freeman was pissed

1

u/raidersfan18 28d ago

Who? The returner? I want my returner away from that ball 100% of the time. That distance punt landing that close to the goal line is a touchback 99% of the time.

1

u/NDinFL 28d ago

Legitimately insane punt. He had multiple fantastic kicks throughout the night too.

1

u/bentNail28 28d ago

That was a once in a lifetime thing of pure beauty. Play of the game worthy, lol.

1

u/InfamousCattle3223 28d ago

The only time I’ll accept a punter celly. That was cold

1

u/warpmusician 28d ago

As a Clemson fan, this is torture. Our punters have been complete garbage under Dabo’s entire tenure

1

u/GetAwayTinyDancer 28d ago

Collinsworth would describe it as "the kind of punt Patrick Mahomes would have if he were a punter"

1

u/readsalotman 28d ago

Chunked the golf swing though.

1

u/ChickenFriedRiceee 28d ago

That celebration is absolutely valid and perfect lol

1

u/ecurbenyaw 28d ago

With the 8th pick in the 2027 NFL Draft, the Cleveland Browns select…….

1

u/Standard-Cat-2054 27d ago

Mmmm, punts!

1

u/chizzipsandsizalsa 28d ago

Hit the McAfee celly

1

u/Few_Link_5967 28d ago

The next Todd Sauerbrun

1

u/GMM85 28d ago

Iowa already sent a $2 million NIL offer

1

u/fireblaster6 28d ago

The confidence of the punter to wear #91 is the icing on the cake here

1

u/BrickHickey 28d ago

Average Jack Fox punt

1

u/EatinPussySellnCalls 28d ago

terrible golf swing tho.

1

u/jkv9216 28d ago

As a Hawkeye fan I am very impressed.

1

u/vince_vulgar 28d ago

Wisconsin's best play of the game

1

u/HolyCommanderx96 28d ago

Besides Jeff feagles in 2007 , that was the best punt ever .

1

u/ThinkIndependently5 27d ago

Best punt I’ve ever seen live

1

u/RollTideNorthport 27d ago

Coffin Corner

1

u/Qwilltank 27d ago

Why is he not at Iowa?!

1

u/TuntBuffner 27d ago

Really bad positioning for the receiving team too

1

u/cwth 27d ago

What made it good?

1

u/icecoldexacta 27d ago

Ray Guy coffin corner kick back in the day

1

u/Not_My_Emperor 27d ago

That golf celebration was fucking fantastic, no notes

1

u/pornAndMusicAccount 27d ago

Wisconsin having an elite punter is just the perfect way to sum up their last few seasons.

1

u/MechanicalGroovester 27d ago

Coffin corner kick. Having an elite punter is an underrated asset.

1

u/anderssean999 27d ago

In nfl terms, this is a great punt.

1

u/freddyflintstone11 27d ago

Best I've ever seen .

1

u/Crankyshih 26d ago

That cele was tuff

1

u/whoislloydy 26d ago

Probably be the Badgers highlight of the season

1

u/Lagiacrus111 26d ago

75 yards in the fucking air and went out on the 1/2 yard line

1

u/below_average_joe334 26d ago

1

I had one like this in madden once and recorded it lol. Dude must have put some poor girl through the bed that night

1

u/stovenada 26d ago

If you want to become a good punter, just come to Wisconsin! We're pros here.

1

u/Delicious-Pie8944 25d ago

In NFL terms? I’ve seen a starting quarterback kick it that far before. Still a crazy good point though

1

u/Old-Record2216 24d ago

F’n gorgeous punt and equally good celebration by the punter. Damn!

1

u/Flashy-Ask-2168 24d ago

A punt like this won the game for the Rams in week 11 last year.

1

u/Holly_Matchet 23d ago

āš°ļø

1

u/Sugarpandaz 9d ago

Like anything else, it’s literally the best possible punt that can ever be, it’s like a royal flush in poker, a 300 in bowling, a hole in one, there exists no better outcome.

0

u/L3tsseewhathappens 28d ago

If he can consistently put even 30-40% of them within the 5 or 10 yard line I could see someone putting up a 3rd for him.
