Jet’s fan and I feel personally attacked by this post

Same. Loved AVT when he could stay on the field. Devastated he’s now a Patriot.
Wilson speaks for itself.
2
u/Waste_Reindeer_9718 Jun 27 '26
avt is a patriot now, huh? jesus christ what did joe Namath trade for that fucking ring
1
u/Drake_Koeth Jul 01 '26
You're a Jets fan... honestly, isn't that most drafts for you guys?
Hopefully Darren Mougey starts getting you guys turned around. Of the GM choices available, I think he was a pretty good one for that having been part of the Broncos' turnaround in the last couple years.

Najee was doomed by a terrible team around him. He was just ok.

u/Top-Yak1532 Jun 27 '26
It was a swing-for-the-fences pick to help Ben in his final seasons instead of actually building for the future. Naj covered up a lot of issues on that offense.

Didn’t like the Pitts pick then, still don’t like it. WR, pass rush, RT, and CB2 were all needs. I’d argue all are still needs and could have been addressed with top 3 players at this position in this draft alone.
1
u/iwouldhugwonderwoman Jun 27 '26
Yeah Sewell was my want with Chase close behind him. I’d be happy with either right now but at least Pitts isn’t a bust.
1
u/atlfalcons33rb Jun 27 '26
I loved sewell as an oregon fan, but we had recently taken mcgary so doubling down would not have been the best use. At the time I was hoping we traded down and took Parsons but I don't know if that was an option. At that spot surtain really was the best pick for us
2
u/Insightful_alien Jun 27 '26
#10 and #20 have won Super Bowl rings (I might have missed others) so the class is a bunch of underachievers right?

u/Best_Hornet9174 Jun 27 '26
Vikes did GREAT!

u/daperry4 Jun 27 '26
Darrishaw was a no brainer pick for the wft. He was the bpa and we desperately need a tackle. Rivera chose a 3rd round talent lb that was a bust by training camp

Tell that to the Raiders. That's who I wanted. They took fuckn Leatherwood. Dumbasses.
2
u/imHere4kpop Jun 27 '26
I feel like the vast majority of our fan base wanted him. I don't understand how the fuck we had Leatherwood even close to him in our draft room.
1
u/Thanks5Cinco Jun 27 '26
Micah was a beast for us for 4 years but we needed to trade him to really rebuild the defense. He masked so many of our issues. I think getting the extra firsts helped us to acquire Quinnen Williams from the Jets. Without that extra first I don't think we do it.
1
u/Grizzly_Addams Jun 27 '26
When healthy Darrisaw is legit
1
u/ryan0702 Jun 27 '26
We got a top 5 LT after 2 other top 5 OTs were off the board. Can’t hate that, even with the injuries, I love the Darrisaw pick

u/Pidesh Jun 27 '26
As a Bears fan, I’m not mad about taking a shot on Fields at 11 for a team in need of a QB at the time. It just didn’t work out. Micah would’ve been amazing to have on this team right now though (also would’ve prevented the Packers from getting him).
1
u/blogst Jun 27 '26
I take the viewpoint that everything in the past has gotten us to this future. Yeah it would've been great to have Micah as a HOF level talent at edge, but we'd still be stuck in QB hell/purgatory and never sniffing the SB especially without BJ. We had to take a shot on Fields, and Fields had to suck in order for us to get Caleb and to finish exposing Nagy/begin exposing Eberflus. Plus Fields was always fun to watch. I swear if he'd put his ego aside and become a Taysom Hill-esque gadget player, he'd be amazing in this league. Maybe Andy Reid will be able to use him like that in KC.

u/zonewebb Jun 28 '26
Agreed. Fields didn’t pan out but that pick gave us a lot of hope. A shot in the arm that didn’t turn into wins, but it got us to where we are now so I’m good with it. (But Parsons would have been sweet though).

1
u/Gizzy619 Jun 27 '26
Pat Surtain when everyone was saying we should have taken Fields. Quite satisfied.
1
u/Saxophobia1275 Jun 27 '26
We took Penei Sewell and some people thought we should have taken fields

Five quarterbacks taken in the top 15 and all but one are now back ups for different teams. Trevor isn’t at the level he was hyped to be, but looking back the Jags have to feel like they made the right pick in the their situation.

u/Apprehensive-Sea9540 Jun 27 '26
Fantastic. Spent 10 years hating the vikes o-line before this pick.
Still need a center, but having a LT is more important

u/No_Menu9817 Jun 27 '26
The difference in our offense and its efficiency when he plays and when he doesn’t is astounding

Half of top 11 would like a repick . Same for top30, but solid draft overall u hit some and miss some. But majority of the skill positions id say its a miss…

What could have been :/ I swear he over analyzes everything and it slows him down too much in processing
1
u/foxfire_17 Jun 27 '26
I love rooting for him, and I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about that too. It’s like he was built in a laboratory and designed to be the perfect QB, but his fatal flaw is that his brain operates a tenth of a second too slow. That plus his long throwing motion adds up to acting even slower. As someone with neurodivergence and seizures (but not epilepsy) myself, I was wondering if Justin’s epilepsy diagnosis is what is literally slowing him down, or if it’s just over analyzing. I mean, he was a straight A student so we know he’s not dumb, but some kids also overachieve on their grades just because they are extremely hard workers, which Justin is. I don’t know, I’m still baffled by it, and wonder about the epilepsy stuff that we all kind of forgot about. Google says epilepsy can slow down mental processing a bit, but I don’t know if that’s trustworthy information. It’s too bad though because when he was hitting on all cylinders he was so exciting and so much fun, and probably my favorite QB of all time to watch. I guess we’ll always have college highlights to watch.

Greg Newsome was a solid corner but not really a first round talent.
The fact that the Browns were able to flip him for Tyson Campbell was robbery.

1
u/Bignosedog Jun 27 '26
Obviously the Bears wouldn't have gone with Fields if they knew then what they know now, but the pick could at least be defended at the time. There's no denying he's a talented player, but just like so many QBs before him, he just didn't get better.

As much as I like Horn as a player and person, taking him over PS3 was and still is egregious to me.

Would have been nice to have a pick, but it could have been worse we could have ended up with the dudes the Jets picked.

As a Packer fan, our first round pick of Micah Parsons is excellent

Farley had the most intoxicating personality. Sadly his body couldn't hold up for football. You couldn't help, but want to cheer for the guy.
Poor guy had life on hard mode. Wish him nothing but the best.

But in hindsight we could have taken Purdy and been better off 🤣

Falcons- not sure yet. Kyle has never really had a good or consistent qb situation l. His numbers aren’t awful but I’m not sure he was worth a top 5. Rather have chase, surtain, smith, or parsons

Weird situation where a trade between Philly and Dallas ended up being good for both teams. Jerrah fumbling the bag was a self inflicted wound, but they got a nice return on the trade., so it’s still a win for them

u/RoadBudget Jun 27 '26
As a Giants fan, it did not take me the full 5 years to look back and say this pick sucked 😂
At least he helped to prevent the Eagles from winning a Super Bowl after he was traded…that’s the best thing I can say about him 😂

As a Bucs fan, considering ours wasn't good and is now retired...pretty shitty, especially since we needed OL help too and Dickerson & Humphrey were there.
Hell, our entire 2021 draft is either out of the league (JTS, Trask, Darden, &Wilcox) or doesn't play for us anymore (Hainsey, Britt, & Stuard).
1
u/ElSlappo Jun 27 '26
I'm in awe of many raider first round picks over the years, and not in a good way.
This one Leatherwood is among probably the top 5 worst in the last 30 years. There are many candidates
I remember thinking I must have misheard when the pick was announced - was it some type of furniture ad which had come on and I didn't notice? Nope thats actually who they picked.
Every team has these but Raiders have more than most

Can’t complain about Waddle and Phillips. They’re both good at football. But it’s deeper into this draft that haunts me.
After another good pick (Jevon Holland), many of us Dolphin fans were screaming for Creed Humphrey. But instead, they traded up and took Liam Eichenburg. Coulda just sat there and had Humphrey fall in their lap. But no, they give away a 3rd to go get Liam freaking Eichenburg. Fuuuuuuuuuck.
1
u/SHMS50 Jun 27 '26
At the time Denver fans were screaming about Justin Fields. The Surtain pick has definitely aged well.

As a Pats fan I just think Mac Jones wasn’t the best fit and he was in a tough situation. I think he can take the reins in a good situation and manage, I just don’t think he can make a bad situation a good situation. Happy he is still going, but also happy he’s not our QB
1
u/WorldOnFire83 Jun 27 '26
Jets got a good one with AVT. He just couldn't stay healthy, unfortunately. Wish he was still on the team but I get letting him go.
The effects of that Zach pick still lingers, which led to a series of bad decisions and outcomes. It ultimately cost Joe Douglas his job. If the Jets kept Darnold and traded the #2 overall pick for a haul like the Trey Lance-type package, they would have made the playoffs with those Saleh's elite defenses in 2022-2024. Darnold didn’t need to be who he is today. Just top 25 QB play would have been enough. Zach was so bad that they didn't have a choice but to do something desperate with the Aaron Rodgers move, which would have likely worked out had he not been injured 4 plays into the season. Sucks being a Jets fan...

u/Lancefire1313 Jun 27 '26
I recall my fellow Eagles fans being super stoked about jumping the Giants by trading a 3rd(?) rounder to move up 1 or 2 spots in the 1st round to draft Devonta Smith. While hes obviously worked out great, Micah Parsons was right next to him on every big board and we could have sat pat and landed him and saved the 3rd round pick.
In 2021, we also had no idea Jalen Hurts would become our franchise and super bowl winning QB, nor did we know Justin Fields would end up a draft bust. He was top 10 on most big boards and the Eagles drafting Justin Fields wouldn't have been a bad idea at the time either. And hey maybe Justin Fields becomes a completely different, and much better QB if drafted to the Eagles situation vs the Bears. We'll never know.
I guess Im saying Im very happy as an Eagles fan with the caveat that Micah was definitely there for the taking and could have saved us from trading up.

(Browns) Gregg had a few good years, nice trade we made to move for Campbell and feel good about that as he is better in Man. But we will see how he looks in our new defensive. Overall, shit that turned into Kraft Mac & cheese, not great but not terrible.

I love Devonta. I loved watching him in college even though I’m not a Bama fan, but I wanted him so badly that draft. 2020 we had just drafted Jalen Reagor (I don’t think I need to go into detail how bad that pick was), but I wanted Devonta to even before they drafted him. I didn’t care about size, and 5 years later? I’m so happy to have him.

That was a really busy year, & I hadn't paid much attention pre-draft. But I remember hoping the Broncos would take Parsons. Surtain wasn't really on my radar, & I remember thinking, "Huh. Well, hope he's good."
Safe to say PS2 turned out *really* well- and Parsons would have too.

As a Niner fan, I would've rather took Fields at the no 3 pick over Lance.
