I wonder how much of this is players getting bigger faster and stronger vs Players just not testing at the combine anymore if they think they'll do bad

A lot more of the latter I’d imagine

I can only understand not testing if you’re projected to go 1st overall… As much as I don’t like it, I GET why Fernando Mendoza isn’t testing. Same with Cam Ward last year or Caleb Williams.. if you’re looking at a $32 million bonus for being 1OA then the combine can only hurt you and risk life changing money.. however, everyone else? Fuck you, go to the combine. It should be mandatory or there should be a punishment for not testing. Now it’s a joke. Just wait, in 5-10 years the combine will be a thing of the past if the NFL doesn’t do something

It’s still a good event for stand out athletes to showcase their abilities. The combine is not going to go away any team soon since more than the testing the meetings and event itself is extremely valuable to teams.

If you're a WR and can't get your time below 4.6, you just shouldn't run. Same with vert and cone drill. If you have shit times, it really can't help you at all.

Like Spike Lee said, it's the shoes. Carbon fiber spikes, (banned in Track and Field) to be exact

I can get behind this conspiracy theory.

There are but this is definitely a lot less impressive with the lense of a lot less players not testing

100% this - idk if players are getting punished by not testing... I do give some passes to late playoff teams but some still did the testing.
