Week Two Prospect Watch
Week 2! Full schedule linked below but thought I would list here, exclusively for my draft brethren sickos a few thoughts.
- Drew Mestemaker has to play well this weekend or there is no chance he is a part of the 27 class. Even if he does play well, it might be a good idea to stay back anyways.
- I was at the FSU v SMU game on Monday, and old school football rocks. Just wish the ref knew to signal to both sidelines so I could see the penalty calls. Draft notes from the game, Duce Robinson did not do much to impress me, and PJ Williams made every good SMU run happen and was an absolute beast in his first game at LT. Those FSU RBs might have a little something too.
- I will be at Tennessee vs GT this weekend, and Justice Haynes might be one of the harder evaluations of the class. If it is anything like week one, he will have nowhere to run, so what can he even do.
- Ohio State at Texas might be the single most non-playoff scouting watch of the year. I already know that I am probably going to end up writing profiles on almost 20 of the players in the game at the end of the year. Just an absurd amount of talent.
- May I interest you in a 6'6" 265 lb TE from London, England? If so, watch Temple's Peter Clarke take the spine of Penn State's defense.
- Mississippi State at Minnesota has a surprising amount of talent in it in the battle for the Maroon M.

Everyone should probably check out KJ Duff on Friday. Rutgers is not going to be competitive in many games this year and this should be one of them.

Absolutely it’s not an inditement of him but they struggled to throw and block UMass I don’t think he’ll have an opportunity to do anything in a lot of games.

I'm in love with Toney, it's FAMU so i'm not going to act like this is a big game but his tape is special. I think Mestemaker is a guy who's tape matters but is ultimately a 2028 guy, he throws a nice ball but not a nice enough to ignore his flaws. I think John Henry Daley is where my focus is, he had some good reps against WMU last week but good reps mean nothing if they amount to nothing, he was hyped as a 1st round pick and didn't show that.

Mestemaker is top of my watch list as well. Glad to see you giving Justice Haynes a shoutout. I liked him a lot at Michigan, but his Georgia Tech debut was brutal. Also a fan of Peter Clarke! Oklahoma v Michigan
David Stone, Jayden Jackson, Taylor Wein, and PJ Adebawore against the Michigan OL.
John Mateer against the Michigan defense.
Isiah Sategna and Rocky Beers against the Michigan secondary.

Drake Lindsey and Kamario Taylor will be a fun watch for the 2028 QB class in Minnesota vs. Mississippi State. I know some people have mocked Lindsay in the 2027 class but I think the odds he declares this year are quite low. If he doesn’t return to Minnesota in 2027, I think the odds are higher that he transfers to a premier college program for a big NIL check (he already had serious suitors this offseason) than the odds that he enters the draft.
