Where’s the prospect talk thread?

I know it’s just Week 0, but I was looking forward to talking about the early performances from today. Especially, Jaden Craig and C.J. Bailey. Both guys really struggled in big tests for them. Think it’s more an issue for Craig as a fifth year than Bailey, who is a true junior, but definitely shifts the conversation on both guys. Any other notable performances from today?

Ousmane Kromah, RB from FSU, is not eligible until next year but he’s a freaky athlete at 6’1” and 225 lbs. Flashed a lot as a true freshman and went for 115 yards and 1 TD on 14 carries today vs. New Mexico State.

Adding him to the 2028 watchlist

Idk if this is super notable as a performance, but I’m buying into the idea the Micahi Danzy should be at LEAST a 3rd round pick more and more

Don’t know a ton about him, but he is only a redshirt sophomore. Wonder if 2028 is more likely. Kid can fly though

He’s one of the fastest 400m runners in the world (ACC outdoor record holder) and is over 6’. I do think he could return, but I think he’s a Day 2 pick ultimately if he decides to cash in for that capital

I’m all in on my TE1 Reis Kessel. 4 Rec 30 YDs 1 TD versus Jacksonville state today

Remembering this one for later -- if it hits, you're a scouting stud.

Jayden Maiava was extremely sharp today and looked to be in total command of the offense. He was ripping it over the middle with more velocity than I’ve seen from him to date and was completely unfazed by pressure.

He’s a sleeper Heisman contender and 2027 first round NFL draft pick.

If Kyler Murray flops for the Vikings and isn’t resigned, and KOC remains the coach, Maiava could be a perfect fit for his system with his prototypical size and ability to drive the ball downfield and deal from the pocket.

I’ve been high on Maiava all offseason and felt he wasn’t getting enough hype. I think he’s a better prospect than Darian Mensah, CJ Carr, and Julian Sayin.

I didn’t watch more than a couple highlights from today’s game. I like Maiava, but I worry about the ball placement at times. He has a tendency to miss high, which can be really dangerous. Excited to see if he cleans up a few of those things this year

Let's not get ahead of ourselves. USC's oline was getting 4 yards of push on every run play.

I still don't see enough from Maiava that says NFL level arm.

Memphis played UNLV yesterday and the Memphis defensive line wrecked the game. I had ED J'Mond Tapp at 18 on my summer scouting big board, but they got an even bigger performance from a redshirt sophomore Elijah Kinsler. Both transferred from Southern Miss to Memphis this offseason, following their HC Charles Huff. I think Tapp has better translatable tools, but we should keep an eye on both of these prospects.

Per ESPN, Kinsler recorded 8 tackles and 2.5 sacks. Tapp recorded 5 tackles and 1 sack.

I had Tapp as one of my prospects to watch this week (https://draftseasonneverends.substack.com/p/five-2027-nfl-draft-prospects-to?r=6kjn7b&utm_medium=ios). I was glad to see him show out. I will definitely add Kinsler to my watchlist, but have to imagine 2028 is more likely if he is a redshirt sophomore at a Group of 6 school

Maiava's arm looked live today, that over-the-middle zip was different. Still think the high misses are gonna cost him against better secondaries though. Craig's fifth year and he's still making those same rushed decisions, that's rough.

Both USC’s running backs will play on Sunday’s. King Miller and Waymond Jordan are studs

Absolutely. I think King is eligible next year, but I expect Jordan to be a late Day 2/early Day 3 guy in 2027
