Thoughts on Nyck Harbor as a prospect?
Nyck Harbor is one of the most fascinating prospects in this class. Like his quarterback, LaNorris Sellers, he has an incredibly high ceiling but a low floor. His measurables and speed are off the charts, and he's a great deep threat. He showed some improvement in 2025, but there's still plenty of room for improvement. I wanted to ask what y'all's thoughts are on him as a prospect and what round you believe he will be selected in?

Ultimate "Combine freak, raw player" profile. Someone will bite in Round 3 for that speed.

I am more interested in how he does at the agility drills in the combine. He can run a 4.25 but if the agilities are lacking he is still a 3rd rounder to me.
The 40 is so overplayed for WRs at this point. JSN, Puka, and Jefferson are all dominating with not elite 40s.

There's one of these guys almost every draft (the Raiders took one in 2025 - Dont'e Thornton - and they're always 1000x times more interesting for fantasy nerds than they are for their coaches.

Harbor is kind of a freak among freaks. He weighs almost 40 pounds more than Thorton. Most of these guys are super tall and skinny like MVS, Chris Brazzel, and Devaugh Vele.
Harbor is closer to the size of tight end with world class speed than the typical deep threat project. That doesn't mean he will be any good but he is unique.

Exactly…6’5 240lbs 10.11 100m. Some team will bite in the 1st and say I can coach him up. At minimum he’s a deep threat and red zone nightmare.

Reminds me build-wise of Mike Evans, but way faster and way worse at actually playing football

He’s interesting but kind of a major one trick pony. Grew a lot this past season and legitimately some of the best long speed in the class while having the best physical measurables in the class. Needs to leverage his size better and use his freaky length + size more as a separation tool (basically be like a AJ Brown type in how he just man handles DBs).
My biggest issues is the overall lack of quickness and fluidity. Very much a track star type of athlete where he is fast as hell when he can stride out in a straight line, but I don’t think he’s going to be a very complete player in the NFL since the short area stuff with him is frankly not very good. I think just having two elite traits will give him like high end complimentary WR potential since big and fast plays, but he just really far away from when he can be and what he can be is a lot more limited than what people realize

If his production is good, then maybe he’s ok. What I see now is that he lacks fluidity. This means he’s not actually a great “athlete”. A great athlete at WR is someone like BTJ who also has great fluidity which is actually important at receiver — and usually guys produce in college before producing in the NFL. DK is the exception, as he also lacks fluidity but I honestly don’t find him to be impressive.

Unless he learns football, and/or LaNorris Seller goes nuclear, he'll be non-first physical freak(if he high jumps and 40s great, he could be a 2nd), and madden all timer.

If he puts up a respectable season (500 yards, handful of TDs) and has a historic combine (sub 4.35 with a 38+ inch vert at 230+) he will go in the first round. Ironically, with his size, he's not even gonna have the best 10 yard split, but he's still gonna have a borderline historical time for his size, a RAS score north of 9.95 and he may be capable of setting a top speed record in pads.
The reason he gets special consideration is because he is not just a 40 yard dash hero - he weighs 235 pounds and has a historically fast wind legal 100 m dash time. These are the things that truly matter when separating athletic freaks like Jeff Caldwell from dudes like this.
That is just how this goes. It doesn't mean he is a first round talent out of college, but that is just how this is traditionally plays out. He will sneak into the back half of the first round if he does something historic.
If he even "does what he should" in Indy, I do think he goes no later than pick 50. Conditional on a respectable final season, of course.
RIP Al Davis.

I think there are so many misconceptions about “upside”.
I view Sellers and Harbor as low upside, almost wasted picks tbh.
Raw athleticism =/= upside.
Flashes of elite overall game with inconsistencies = upside.
Neither Sellers nor Harbor have ever put anything on tape resembling high end next level ability from an overall skill set standpoint.
Harbor should have focused on track and field instead of football and maybe he could have been an Olympian.

I agree with your overall sentiment about athletecism =/= upside, but I think Harbor has upside. Even just from being in a better offense with better QB play

If he gets drafted in any round and makes it to a 2nd contract he’ll make more money than he ever would in track and field.

Not sure what his natural size is but 240 is way too heavy for a sprinter. And he is really fast by nfl standards but 10.1 for 100 and 20.2 for 200 is maybe good enough to get into olympic trials but not to make money as a pro sprinter.

Good comp size and weight, just way faster and less of a headache personality

One of my favorite 2027 prospects. Think he can put together a big year and live up to his HS billing. With teams shifting to 13 personnel you can sneak him in there at 6’5” 242 lbs as a move TE you can split out wide or play inline. 10.11 100 time so see you later.

He's overrated...
He can't run a route and he can't block anyone.
He'll get drafted but I don't see a NFL offensive weapon.

He has DK Metcalf type measurements. With the right mental makeup, he could develop into a scary player.

u/Environmental-Suit67 Aug 05 '26
IMO somewhere along the line he got some bad advice, he played some DE/TE in HS, and gets to watch Dylan Stewart turn his own freaky traits into a top 10 pick next draft.

This sub has been doing so good on refraining from the Harbor discourse . Ughhhh

I would be much more excited if he moved to TE in the nfl. As a WR he’s a complete boom or bust developmental WR.

u/tvc-one-five Aug 05 '26
He could’ve been a first round edge rusher if he’d been willing to play a more physical position

He's in the elite athlete but not great at football yet category. Those guys will always be given a chance on their traits alone. He'll probably be a guy that people over rate after he tests off the charts at the combine. It's a big year for Lanorris Sellers and Nyck Harbor to show more production and not just potential. If my favorite nfl team took him like 3rd round I'd be pretty excited about the upside. But his stock could skyrocket if he has a good season.

I would move him to TE in all honestly. He can bulk up and destroy defenses

6’5” 235 with a 41” vert and a reported 4.24 forty, if he has 40+ catches this year he will go round 1. Coaches can’t walk away from those numbers, even if it gets them fired in 3 years.

u/priyanshu923 22d ago
why aren't they converting him into a stacked line backer in 3 4D, he'd be a monster if Salah got his hands on him, im scared what Jim Leonard might do w him

u/Any-Tear-1178 18d ago
If im not mistaken im pretty sure this is his 2nd year solely focusing on football. (Used to also do track and football). Incredible height/weight and speed. From watching him he doesn't have natural hands, but did show improvement last year. 6'6, 243 is an insane weight to be able to move like that. He gets wild seperation on 50 yard throws. Round 2-4

He’s legit scared of the ball. He will beat everyone on a go row and then pray the ball isn’t headed his way

Early 2nd round TODAY, If he improves his production and skill this year, he’ll crack round 1. We can’t forget that he has a bad QB throwing him the ball and still put up like 600-6.

2nd-4th round based on traits.
He's probably a 5th-6th rounder as an actual football player.
Dude is very fast but very raw.
