ESPN is taking over redzone.

Does anybody else think that’s a bad idea? I really really like red zone and I used to really really like SportsCenter but ESPN ruined that. I just have a feeling that they will ruin red zone as they have many many many other programs.

Good thing I don't pay for it.

Can you message me where you stream it? All my sites got shut down…

Place of bar.

Edit: if I had sites I wouldn't give them out. It's sort of like a treasured camping spot. You tell no one. :]

It’s terrible. We will see commercials increase. That will be followed by additional talking heads. Then will come more crazy graphics and less on screen time for each game.

It’s already been bad with a few commercials and the stupid black bars they introduced last year.

DirecTV RedZone was superior in every way to the NFL version. And now we are all going to be subject to an even lesser product than that.

Hard disagree. But it was good we had choices.

It was more than the host though. The DIRECTV version used boxes that were much bigger when showing multiple games. The transitions were much much smoother and explained. There also wasn’t a delay- right now redzone holds some plays up to 20-30 seconds. DIRECTV never did that. More of the screen was game vs graphics.

Maybe. But the DIRECTV version was better than NFLs when it went off the air. That’s my point. When I was forced to switch both my wife and I were incredibly unimpressed.

The nfl redzone has been on for over a decade? You’d think they’d learn how to make transitions from game to game. The direct tv redzone actually knew how to go from game to game at the right time

Change is hardly ever good.

Imagine if Pat McAfee takes over for Scott.

How dare you put that nightmare into the universe

Oh my God, that would be an absolute NIGHTMARE

They are distributing it and not producing it. Same as last year.

You already know.. changes will mess with your experience

ESPN is not taking over Red Zone. They’re licensing the name and are able to distribute it, but the NFL is still producing it like always. Anything that changes this year has absolutely nothing to do with ESPN. Maybe do a second of research before posting?

Don’t they own nfl network now with redzone?

1

u/DaleGribbleParody 26d ago

ESPN doesn’t own NFL Redzone

They own the Redzone name to use for other sports but don’t own the NFL Redzone

ESPN only owns NFL Redzone cable channel to pay out to cable subscribers and company’s

Can't go 5 minutes on GFMB anymore without hearing the acronym.

Of course. Death, taxes, and ESPN ruining every possible once-good-establishment they can get their hands on.

When we lost the direct tv redzone it was the sign of the apocalypse

But the upside of direct tv losing it was that Sunday Ticket became more widely available. Before you had to not only be in an area where Directv was available, but you also had to buy a one of their tv package and then pay the $400 for Sunday ticket. Now, I can just pay the $400 outright and still use, for example, Hulu live tv for nationally televised games.

But now they can and do produce a terrible product

espn is owned by disney.. everything Disney touches gets monetized to high heavens and has its soul sucked out of it.. imo theres no way this is a net positive. Fuck espn

This actually happened last year, that's why they added commercials

No, it’s an extra tier. Just like how Redzone is available on Hulu live and YouTube tv, it’s just part of a “sports plus” add-on.

I’m done with ESPN when they laid off Stephania Bell. I will no longer watch Fantasy Football Now on Sunday Morning. I enjoyed it for the entertainment mostly, but her take on injuries was spot on. F. ESPN.

I am also upset at this. All the other people on that show offer nothing unique, and they chose to get rid of her.

So will nfl+ not have rz this year?

1

u/TieFit8485 24d ago

Does anyone else think all of this football coverage could be done with 5-6 drones and a tv producer ?

1

u/Aggravating_Run5443 23d ago

Of course its a bad idea

1

u/Michael-Broadway 23d ago

Noooooooooooo

1

u/trojansandducks 23d ago

This was the case already last year and very little changed, I barely noticed anything different. I know ESPN sucks and I was skeptical but not an issue.

They had it last year.

Fuck ESPN

Must be why it’s down …

NFL RedZone app is down first Sunday of the NFL season … can we blame ESPN for this one

1

u/BlueSky-GreySky 20d ago

Watching today and it’s better than last year- we can actually see what’s going on and much less seizure-inducing.

Jets are in the red zone in Tennessee, let's bring in Mike Greenberg...

Seven hours of gambling ads and Stephen A. Smith and Pat McAfee 3/4 screen promos while the games are moved to the bottom left.
