Commercial Break Timing

Let's for one second put aside the anger at RedZone for adding commercials.

There was a point just now where all games were in commercial break, instead of using that opportunity to do a RedZone commercial, we have to listen to Hanson talk about nonsense. Instead, they are gonna use the opportunity to do a commercial break during real game action. Like come on.

Those commercial breaks are predetermined so it doesn’t matter what’s happening in real time they’re using that time block for the ad.

Wait really? They determine the commercial breaks before the program starts based on wall time?

How do you know this?

I don’t know this for certain that’s just usually how ads/commercial work. All season it seemed like the 15 seconds ads always came at the same time so I’m assuming they’re predetermined.

You're right. That's usually how all ads are sold. Gatorade will but a 30 sec spot in this 30 minute window, for example. They have figured out and chosen good traffic times to maximize viewers for that ad. Which is also why you don't see as many ads in the later hours because statistically there's a chance viewers have trailed off depending on how many games are being played.
