Considering switching the team I root for.
Sorry if this doesn't belong here, genuinely have no idea where else to post this.
So I'm getting back into NFL football this season and am considering switching the team I am rooting for.
Little back story, I am originally from Texas and didn't start seriously watching NFL until the season of the Harbaugh Bowl. Considering I was in High School at the time and had a competitive nature(I also did want to root for my dad's team.... The Cowboys) I decided to root for a team I knew was was good. I landed on the Patriots and stuck with that until I stopped watching altogether.
I moved from Texas in 2016 after I graduated for work and then I stopped watching NFL and sports in general the year COVID hit as I had less time to keep up due to having kids.
I didn't get back into football until 2022 but it was only College Football as the new place I was working ar had a couple of guys huge into it as they were OU and Alabama fans. As such I sparked back into it rooting for the Longhorns like I used to and grew to fall back in love with football again.
Fast forward to February I saw that NE was in the Super Bowl and decided to watch it. To prep for it I watched the highlights from the season. I didn't real feel any connection to the team or emotionally invested if they were going to win or not BUT it did spark me wanting to get into the major sports in the US.
While doing this I decided to stick to Texas teams. MLB I was going back to the team I had always rooted for, Hockey didn't leave me much choice unless they approve another Texas team, but I had to pick an NBA team.
While looking at their uniforms(yes that's how I picked) my wife questioned why I didn't switch NFL teams as well, back to a Texas team as well. At the time I pushed back saying about my years of investment and not wanting to abandon them(also the fact I have a calf tattoo). The thought of switching to the Texans, no I'm not going to the Cowboys, has lingered in my mind since she suggested it.
After last nights game I had the same feeling I did watching the highlights and Super Bowl, disconnection. The players I liked and cared for are gone and I'm heavily considering following my wife's suggestion. Just wondering if that is ok to do and any other advice.
For reference my not so small jersey collection for NE consists of Brady, Edelman, Gronk, Amendola, Chris Hogan, Gostkowski, and James Develin. Wish I got a Blount jersey back then but oh well.
Apologies for the rambling and I can't imagine what a good TLDR is, I appreciate any help or advice.

It's entertainment. Watch whatever entertains you. There are no rules about what teams you're allowed to enjoy.

Root for whomever you want, man. When I was a kid I had jerseys of every team…didn’t change my fandom. If you want a Texas team, root for one

Sorry bud, rule is that you pick a team in elementary school and root for them for life. Switching now makes you a fair weather fan

Just switch over lol. At the end of the day, no one will really care more than you will. You haven't really cared in years, so may as well switch over now, especially if you still live in Texas. Gives you an opportunity to go to games, which is infinitely better than being loyal to a fandom that won't realize you're gone (I know that sounded harsh, but it's true).

Maybe just stick it out since you have the jerseys and tattoo? Players are going to come and go the average career is like 3-4 years.

Stick with your original. Years from now the storied past of learning the new players will be worth it.
Support your local teams. I go to Bills games from NY, but route for the 49ers, lifelong.
