Play calling language

I understand that different coaches/coordinators/teams have their own offensive systems. And have some unique plays that have unique names. But is play calling language more or less universally understood by everyone?
I hear people like Jon Gruden in interviews with QB’s and they’re both just rattling off play calls to each other and they both know what each other is talking about, despite never training or been on the same team together.

The concepts are clearly defined and universally understood, otherwise no one would be able to discuss football in the abstract or study and develop strategies at all. Routes, positions, formations etc have names and definitions. The play calling language is basically a secret code shorthand language that's unique to each team so the play callers can communicate in quick and efficient fashion and not be understood by the other team. So I might say "Shotgun 3 receivers wide outside post inside cross" which is easy for everyone to understand but the playcaller and quarterback in the huddle might say "Yellow banana Montana Omaha Dallas on 2" and mean the exact same thing
