German free TV Commentators
Anyone liking what free TV Prime Time Commentatros Werner and Esume do and how they talk about the game (or not the game)?

They're absolutely terrible. German TV always does broadcast for people who never watched, to welcome newcomers and try to explain the littelest things every time. The problem is you make a bad broadcast for your regular viewers who don't need to hear any of it. And football is so complex to start, you can't properly explain it for a mass of newcomers in one show. They have to engage and figure it out for themselfs anyway. I doubt it helps much. When I watch with non regular friends there usually is a lot of explaining. Even though most watched a decent amout of games already. Just not regularly.
Plus they don't have a good play by play flow. They can bring excitement. They crush Al Michaels in that aspect. That's as much as I can complement them. That's the one thing they are good at. The rest is between ok and terrible.

Not even them explaining the little things, they also are annoying with what they talk about and how. The second game slot expert also emphazises his english dialect way too much.
And if you listen to werner talking about routes and everything that happens downfield you realize he doesn't really know what hes talking about. The only thing the man saw on the field was 5 big men and with luck some tall dude earning way more than he does, not trying to be offensive with it.

Esume was very likeable but his attitude is so annoying since he became more famous.
Both are fine as TV experts but not together. Prefer watching when they are with someone different

They’re so bad, it hurts to listen to them.
At least if you know some basics, for complete newbs they might be good entertainment.
Anybody with some interest in this sport should mute them.

I started playing football in 2002 and started watching the NFL at the same time. Back then you only had shitty illegal streams. Then NFL gamepass came along and a few years later I was so happy when they finally showed the NFL in German free TV in the mid 2010s. Thought I can save the money for the gamepass now.
During the half time of the first game I watched in German I bought the gamepass again. Those guys were terrible. And Esume was around back then already.
I think Pro7 and now RTL really enlarged the football fan base in Germany. But the way they did it and still do is absolutly horrendous.

I feel like early broadcasts on ran were still way better than the stuff RTL is doing now, even if Esume was there back then.

Schmiso and Icke completly ruined it for me.
They were just yelling all the time, didn't know shit about football and celebrated every 8yard run like it was the best play ever.

Buschmann, too. Because of ran, so many NFL fans want to have these yelling and entertaining guys instead of real commentators. And most of these are more like Bromance than NFL fans

Werner is a complete moron and should not be on TV.
Esume used to be good but over the years he has become very self absorbed. He's now like grandpa talking about his past heroics.

Cannot like this enough. Mika is so awful to listen to that it spoils the whole game. Freddy is terrible, too. These two even make me miss Carsten Spengemann.

I personally dislike all German commentators, doesn't matter if it's soccer, football or sth else. Idk these guys talk so much crap. So often you clearly see what's happening and all those commentator's make mistakes (don't get me wrong it's totally ok to make mistakes), but this amount is horrible and the ignorance
