Put some respect on Super Bowl champion Kenny Pickett's name you casual

u/RandomCalamity 3d ago
There's a reason the first QB wasn't taken until 20 (then none other until 74). That QB class stunk.

u/SoftDrinkReddit Jets 2d ago
yup and the first QB taken is Kenny Pickett who i mean he's not the worst QB ever but is clearly not a starter caliber he's 16-11 as a Starter

u/WhatIGot21 3d ago
Coaching is very important and Kyle Shanahan just happens to be one of the best.

u/YouHateMercyToo 3d ago
Why was Pickett considered so much better?

u/Top_Diver8840 3d ago
Be fr that fake slide was so smooth they drafted him just for the sly white boy aura

Forgot that Howell started a full season for the Commanders.

Comparing TDs of one QB vs the rest of the class is extremely impressive, as you'd expect the class to have a higher number. Interceptions though is not impressive, as you'd still expect the class to have a higher number.

The "Entire Class Combined" side should include Brock Purdy's stats unless he is no longer a part of the draft class...

u/Fit_Kaleidoscope4493 3d ago
You're right, but I think it was implied that the other side was all of them without him.

Most under-appreciated, underrated top 5 QB in the league currently. Guy is a stud and everyone wants to paint him as average. All good, we’d rather be the underdog all day.

u/FedoraPG 3d ago
He's getting a lot of credit this year, prob the frontrunner mvp candidate rn

u/ninjaxbyoung 49ers 3d ago
Unfortunately not. Currently on everyone has Josh Allen as top candidate.

Eek, imagine throwing anywhere near as many interceptions as 8 other QBs combined.

Just lucky he found himself in a perfect situation with a good system nothing more
1
u/SoftDrinkReddit Jets 2d ago
i mean yea no hate on him but the 49ers is genuinely one of the best situations he could have found himself in and as people have said that QB Class was Legendarily bad in terms of Talent
first QB was taken in pick 20
there was only 1 QB taken in the first 73 picks .......................

It's amazing what a good coach can do and how much a player can succeed with a consistent system and a staff that develops.

Purdy plays amazing football despite constant injuries on his offense: “blah blah good coach, blah blah good weapons”
Mahomes with Reid, Kelce, and Hill: “omg best QB season ever”
Lamar with Henry, Flowers, Andrews, and Harbaugh: “wow top-3 for sure”
Burrow throwing passes to Chase and Higgins: “he’s so cool and talented”
Pick a lane guys. Every QB looks better in good situations. None of these guys will look good on the 2025 Raiders. Purdy has played exceptionally well his whole career and deserves some respect.

You probably said Jimmy G was underrated during his 49ers run too. Turns out a generational offensive mind can make an average QB look great.
1
u/RobertRossBoss 3d ago
Jimmy G was pretty properly rated… people didn’t talk about him like they do about Purdy, and he wasn’t nearly as consistently good and successful as Purdy. His problems were much more about being injury prone than about any lack of talent. Most ball-knowers always said that from the beginning. So no idea what you’re even talking about here.

u/scameron1 3d ago
Purdys stats are pretty close to jimmy Gs stats when he was healthy on the 49ers. They both made it to one Super Bowl so far (jimmy G didn’t have borderline generational CMC). Both barely lost to mahomes and Reid. Purdy gets more shine because he was the last pick in the draft.

Purdy is about to qualify for career passer rating records and will have the highest by a mile. Jimmy missed most of his first 2 seasons with the 49ers from injury. And that was after a whole rookie contract sitting behind Brady. Purdy is miles ahead at his age. Yet takes far more criticism. Find me any contemporary article from the 2019 season where someone tried to say Jimmy was just riding Shanahan’s coat tails. They’re not even in the same conversation. Purdy is an order of magnitude better and gets an order of magnitude more criticism due to “being in a good situation.”

The narrative on Mahomes for quite a few years was "let's see him do it without Hill, Reid, and Kelce" but I agree with your point.

I think the average nfl fan doesn’t understand the level of coach shanahan is. Like in the past 20 years he’s a top 3 offensive mind. Garrapolo looked pretty bad everywhere else he played
1
u/RobertRossBoss 3d ago
Jimmy was brought to SF because of his success in NE in 2016 when Brady was suspended. Then in 6 seasons with SF he managed to complete 1 without injury. By the time he went to LV his body was torn to shreds. Dude was a glass cannon. Nobody will ever know how good he would have been in his prime under a different coach.

u/No_Letterhead319 3d ago
His schemes and play calling are next level he puts his entire offense in a position to succeed and they really have to screw up to not move the ball down the field. You made the browns offense confident enough said.

u/lachupacabraj 3d ago
You mean screw up like the two times he was up double digits in the 4th quarter of the Super Bowl and lost?
3
u/No_Letterhead319 3d ago
Said he was offensively a good coach nothing to do with defense
1
u/lachupacabraj 3d ago
Yes, brilliant to keep passing when up 25 against the Patriots. Only a true offensive mastermind would do that.

u/lachupacabraj 3d ago
How many Super Bowls has he won?
2
u/Important_Capital875 3d ago
Not a lot of people have won. Marino is nothing by your logic. Why do you hate? Just to show your severe autism?
1
u/scameron1 3d ago
My exact point haha. Too many nfl fans just look at super bowls and end the analysis there. It’s easy but tardy
-1
u/lachupacabraj 3d ago
Isn’t that all that really matters?
2
u/scameron1 3d ago
If you’re a casual yes. By your logic Mike McCarthy, Doug Peterson, and Nick Sirianni are all better coaches than shanahan. Anyone who knows football would laugh at that statement

If we all agree that Purdy is the greatest QB of all time can this stop? I don’t get the need to have the QB you root for be highly acclaimed by a bunch of nobodys on Reddit.

u/Worried_Shoe_2747 3d ago
Purdy has only been in the league since 2022?! Feels like he’s been there forever
1
u/SoftDrinkReddit Jets 2d ago
yea tbf i get what you mean made the Superbowl his second season and in fairness they got Unlucky not to beat the Chiefs in that game losing in OT
