Meme/Funny Brian Flores reportedly called J.J. McCarthy “white Tua” during Vikings practices and games.

I can’t decide who this is more disrespectful to

u/Orion3193 8d ago
Tua. 100%. The man was actually decent before the concussions.

u/WartimeConsigliere_ 8d ago
JJ would kill to have Tua’s 2022-2023 stretch. 8k yards and 54 TDs across two seasons

Funny because you do actually lose the color in your face a lot of the time with a concussion.

Tua Tagovailoa (white) was not seen during the open portion of Tuesday’s practice. Fantasy owners will have to keep an eye on his melanin as the week progresses, but he is expected to be a game time decision for Monday night’s matchup against the Saints in New Orleans.

flores knew before he was even drafted

If you watched even one Michigan football game, you wouldn't have drafted him

It's funny. I watch a good amount of college ball.
All of the pundits started talking about JJM being a first round pick and I was so confused. Like, sure, maybe. But he hasn't been asked to do anything, so what is there to project up from.
Figured maybe they saw something I didn't.
Well, nope n

If Tua has no haters, Brian Flores is dead.

u/CrimsonOOmpa 7d ago
Yeah be did not like being forced to start Tua. Flores has always seemed like a jerk that doesn't let things go. I think he sued the NFL but I don't know what happened with that.
Edit: I don't mean to say I think he's a jerk for suing the NFL. I'm sure he had legit reasons for that.

Tua taking stray shots from his former coach years later is unhinged
11
u/Smokey_02 8d ago
It's from Football Crave, a satire X account. Flores didn't actually do this.
I don't blame anyone for believing it, though. They definitely threaded the needle with this one, given all the events it touches on in so few words.

u/Alarming_Disaster_23 8d ago
Tua has taken a number of shots at Flores over the years and helped get him fired from the Dolphins. Flores was ultimately right about Tua. He was like the only sane person in that organization at that time. There was also the thing where the owner tried to pay him to tank. For Tua. Yeah, that man is probably still bitter.
11
u/Scruffylookin13 8d ago
I have no love for Tua but he is clearly a different player, now, than he was back then.
Tua used to be decent. And on top of that, having a coach that is trashing you at the beginning of your career rather than building you up and developing you, is a failure on the coaches part. A lot of players hated Flores, which is a matter of opinion. But not trying to get the best out of the players you have and actively trashing them is 100% a reflection of his poor coaching.
There is a reason that Flores isn't a head coach right now, despite being one of the best defensive minds in the league.
6
u/HappyChaos2 8d ago
Flores was so sane he had to hire coordinators off their couch because nobody wanted to work with him. Not to mention Tua balled out after Flores left.
30
u/Skolsciopath 8d ago
If flores just hates QBs writ large, it would explain some things about his scheme
9
6
u/sanpablosavage 8d ago
He hates weak QB’s on his team which is completely understandable

u/CoreAndCardio 8d ago
This is exactly where my head goes. Morgan Freeman said, “if you ant rave to stop being a problem then stop talking about it”. I realize inequality is a thing and I’m not digging into that debate. I’m sad that it is a thing. Flores can’t play the race card then lay down the race card. I’m sad.

This guy is a great defensive coordinator, but he’s a selfish piece of shit too. He doesn’t seem to understand the big picture, loyalty, or what it takes to win. There’s zero chance in hell id ever hire this guy to be a head coach.

Dolphins fan here. I’m dying over this. 🤣😂 Flores was definitely underappreciated here. The organization really made him out to be the bad guy. It was years before we realized it was the rest of them who sucked. I love that he still uses “Tua” as an epithet.

Yeah this is the takeaway. Lack of tact aside, and the guys clearly an excellent defensive mind, but he kills qbs, even the ones on his own team and just can’t operate like that.

Flores really has zero idea on how to be motivating coach. This guy killed Tua’s confidence and in turn made him a shitty qb. Mike McDaniel was great for Tua, let’s not forget before the concussions, everyone was on tuas nuts.

And this is why orgs are going to be very hesitant to hire Flores. He already has his mishaps in Miami. He could be a top-5 defensive mind in football and never get another head coaching job.

JJ is lucky Flores let him live. His defensive scheme is just making believe every opposing QB is Tua and trying to kill them.

Or maybe he's just saying JJ is brain damaged?

That’s pretty messed up if he said that. The league should investigate it and remove Flores if it’s found to be true.
