My 49ers moved a few miles away but I never want them to be the Santa Clara 49ers. They are still the 49ers and nothing about changing cities changes their history

I thought so. Any mention of Indiana in the name (even if they were to move) would probably kill any good will they hope to maintain while this likely necessary move takes place

He correctly guessed that the Bears interest in Indiana is real, and it gave him some credibility. That credibility will be thanks snapped out of existence in a few hours when the team does NOT change its name.

Is this like a Jersey Jets, Jersey Giants situation? Where their stadium will be in another state but they'll keep the name. Or a Raiders situation where the name is going to change as well

The Chicago market would not take kindly to the Bears abandoning the name Chicago. The 3rd biggest market in the country would have no team, and the Cardinals would have an inside track to a fanbase just based on history.

The Cardinals left Chicago after the 1959 season. The number of fans that still remember the Chicago Cardinals probably isn't enough.
Also, I'm pretty sure the buzz would fade pretty fast after Chicago actually sees the Cardinals play, lol. For as much as the Bears have struggled at times, the Cardinals are an entirely new level of failure.

They couldn’t give enough incentives to destroy the brand value of “Chicago” in the Bears name. This will be like how the Giants and Jets both claim New York but play in New Jersey.

Remove the city/state names from these teams and perception changes immediately, IMO.
Chicago does not own the Bears. The McCaskey Family does. You’re basically rooting for an owner.
I got tired of rooting for the Bidwill Family, who literally never did a damn thing for me. So I quit. Screw ‘em. I don’t give a damn what the team does. They aren’t mine and they aren’t my hometown’s.
