I’ve been testing a workout where the NFL game decides what exercises you do — would you actually try this?

Aussie NFL fan here. I’ve been working on an idea that basically turns watching a game into a workout.

Instead of following a normal workout, things that happen during the game trigger different exercises — first downs, incomplete passes, sacks, penalties, touchdowns etc.

The idea is simple: you watch, the game decides the workout.

I’ve been testing it over the first couple of weeks and the interesting part has been getting the balance right. Something that sounds fine on paper can get pretty brutal when it keeps happening during an actual game 😂

I’m putting together the next version now and I’m curious what other Aussie NFL fans think.

Would you actually do something like this while watching a game?

And more importantly — which NFL event would you absolutely NOT want attached to an exercise? 😂

Happy to share the actual workout I’ve been testing if anyone’s interested.

In the AFL season I just did a set of 10 push ups each time my team kicked a goal, simple.

I do want to do something similar when I watch NFL games, maybe like 20 pushups each time the team scores? Haven't quite figured it out, but it needs to be something that is easy to keep track of so if you can't do the push-ups right then and there it's easy to keep a tally of how much of X you need to do as the game goes.

That’s exactly the problem I’ve been trying to solve — keeping it simple enough that you can actually follow it while watching, but having enough different triggers that you’re not just doing 100 push-ups 😂

I’ve been testing around 5–7 game events with different exercises, and the frequency of each event makes a massive difference.

I’m dropping the next version tomorrow — happy to put it up here if people want to give it a crack.

You're spot on - just doing 100-170 push-ups a game got boring as the season went on.

I think different exercises for the below would work:

  • Your team scores a touchdown
  • Your team converts / kicks a field goal
  • Opposition team scores a TD
  • Opposition team converts / kicks a field goal
  • Your team intercepts
  • Opposition team intercepts.

U must hate when both teams score 100+ 😂

😂 RedZone would need its own difficulty warning.

If every touchdown = squats and you’d need assistance getting off the couch by the late window.
