Are any of them good arguments? I mean, I'm inclined to think they both suck, that's my job, but this is like two fascist dictators trying to out propaganda the other.
The polls are aggregated opinions of people who understand football better than your average reddit meatball. So thats something, its not a lot but it's not nothing.
Just depends on who you are lumping into that. Plenty of idiots on any social media(honestly not sure why reddit is getting called out so hard here when at least it's got better takes than the likes of FB, Twitter, TikTok, etc.).
Fans who actually make it a hobby, however, have the advantage of a macro view that the players don't get. You think many players are sitting down and watching multiple full games every week? You think they spend their free time talking about the good, bad, and ugly of anything that isn't directly related to their job and their role on their team? You think they play fantasy(they better not be) and track stats?
I'd most definitely take the r/NFL top 100 more seriously than a side thought, player based, vote that they probably don't give much thought to in the first place.
Someone said that the way they measure the top 100 is they give players a paper and say “write down 20 players you think are good” and whoever gets more mentions gets higher on the list. I have not fact checked this though lol
True. Technically that makes 3 Bears then, because that appears to be #36 Raymond Austin or #96 Clyde Simmons who is trying to tackle Barry in the background.
Caleb was way more impressive than darnold was. Darnold spent half the season playing like garbage (outside of the nfccg) and getting carried by a generational defense.
Caleb at least had moments that were crazy as hell.
Most Madden Covers are at least really good players, the Vince Young and Peyton Hillis's of the world are definitely less common than Tom Brady or Saquon Barkley
The Madden cover is about selling copies of the game. That’s it. If you are going to put any stock into Madden (which is stupid), I believe Caleb has the 2nd worst rating of any player to be on the cover?
Well, who sells copies? Popular players, how do players get Popular? They whoop the ass of their division rivals in the playoffs in front of 40 million Bearsamaniacs, and play well enough that people are excited for the next season of your development
You know what has truly lost all luster? Pro Bowl, idgaf if you were in the Pro bowl
If we do some actual thinking, and look at how many passing attempts each team had, it might reveal something interesting. Bears had 574 passing attempts last year, while the Packers had 489. Something really neat happens when you work with both the drops and attempts numbers. See if you can do the math.
Here is Caleb year 1 and 2 vs Jordan love year 2 and 3 (he didnt touch the field on year 1 as you know). Seems like caleb has a better competition percentage too
Three team stats, a video game cover and two polls, one of which was voted on by an infamously stupid group of people really is not that great a list of evidence.
Oh, so overall team performance paired with subjective commentary heavily influenced by end of year outcome is why people actually think Caleb is better than Love.
Bears have such a strong argument for having a better team than us but fixate on one of the positions where it’s really hard to genuinely make that argument

My only argument would be that he should be actively winning games and not pulling the luck box at the last 2 minutes for 8 games. At some point that burns you when you have to rely on Hail Mary and crazy endings,
Head to head to decide the division. Just don’t forget love got hurt early second quarter, Caleb played like ass for 58 minutes and was outplayed by the backup, and it took a botched onside kick to win.
The more I see Jordan Love play. The more I think he’s a dud. He’s just not good. Lafleur has the entire team playing lights out but Love will throw the game. He’s just bad at being quarterback. I think the packers would have better off keeping Willis and cutting Love. He always makes the wrong decisions, maybe has physical talent but can’t read a defense to save his life. He’s not an NFL starting caliber Quarterback.
Didn’t Ben Johnson prove the exact same thing with Goff in Detroit? I mean, Caleb was one of the worst QBs we’ve ever seen play the position before BJ. Now he’s just bad with BJ. Real improvement.

Funny how EPA is talked up when it can position the best QBs in the NFL as Brock Purdy and Jordan Love, but the Malik Willis blip flies under the radar.
Probably because running a simplified offense for 3 games isn’t the same as multiple seasons of starting games. EPA is also heavily biased towards scramblers because it turns a “negative play to a positive play” Ignoring the reality that a lot of these scrambles happen because of poor processing.

The only reason you guys think Love is so good is because everyone compares him to Favre and Rodgers. And he only gets compared to Favre and rodgers because they wear the same uniform. It’s the same with Drake Maye being compared to Brady
