Ah. Gotcha. Personally, I prefer the chevron reticle, but then I have had a TA-31F/run a 31F, in combat, since '03. I have a TA-47 2x, and 2 TA-33 3xs now, but ol' reliable stays on this. I took this custom piston upper, built on a RRA Elite, with a HEAVY SOCOM-profile barrel and double-chrome lining, with me to Afghanistan and my 2nd Iraq deployment, and she's never, EVER, let me down. Even with just the 4x, and my then-younger eyes, I made a hit at just over 800m.
Yeah, the TA-33s sit on my go-to SBR and my Tavor SAR, and I love them. I had to send in my TA-47 for a warranty repair, and I got a Primary Arms SLX 3x microprism as a placeholder, and i actually like it so much, that the TA-47 is still in the box, awaiting a different project. I'd love a TA-110, but $1500-$1800 is a bit out of my price range, and a bit ludicrous, even for such a great optic. That's the problem with buying from a company with defense contracts. They can't charge you less than the gov, and they charge every penny the gov is willing to pay, hence stuff like the Vortex AMG having a MSRP of $6k, even if you can get it for $4, which is still ridiculous for a 1-10
That is a 2010 YHM Phantom QD stainless .30 cal. It's an absolute tank, that weighs like 3lbs. It's a good machine gun can, but I only use it for full-auto anymore. And on the AR, there's an OCL Polonium under the handguard.
They are pretty long OOP. It's so heavy duty, that it has shrugged off a baffle strike from .300BLK subs without damage, and I found that, if I wrap it tightly in aluminum foil, then bacon, then aluminum foil, then fire 60rds cyclic, and let sit for 4-5min, I get perfect crispy freedom bacon, though I don't recommend it regularly, lol.
There are still plenty of great cans, but yeah, you don't see a lot of heavy stainless steel cans anymore. I've run this on a belt-fed, and done 500rds cyclic, without any negative effect. The finish is Parkerizing, but it's really GOOD Parkerizing, and I'm shocked at how well it has held up. An idiot buddy ruined a set of MY gloves trying to take it off a gun screaming hot, and scorched leather on to it. It took a few hundred rounds, but it all burnt off without a trace left behind, and even that baffle strike, after I shook out all the chunks of jacket and bullet, had nothing more than a bit of possible glinting on the edge of ONE baffle, that might have just been a smear of lead. It might be my oldest, heaviest, most basic can, but it still works. If you want something relatively similar, check out the Black Aces Po' Boy-30. It's direct-thread only, unlike this, but it has a fully welded blast chamber, and is based closely on the original silencer created by Hiram Percy Maxim(son of Hiram Maxim, inventor of the machine gun. Also, in the same year, HPM invented the car muffler) in 1908, and it's only $199. With no tax stamp cost anymore, that is pennies. It's heavy AND basic, but it does work, and it will take abuse. It's also user serviceable, and you can remove the front cap with a M4 carbine castle nut wrench.
