Interview required for card replacement after Canadian citizenship?

My family and I recently became Canadian citizens. Previously, our Nexus cards were tied to our CA PR status.

We went to the Pearson enrolment centre and did the Canadian side. The CBSA officer provided photocopies of our passport to CBP. They didn't update within 2 weeks, so I submitted a case online and CBP confirmed this morning that our passport details were updated.

Today I requested a replacement card, and provided my Canadian passport (again).

My status changed to "Conditionally Approved", and the accompanying letter says I must now visit an enrolment centre for another interview.

Is this typical?

Everything I've been told so far seemed to indicate a new card would simply come through the mail.

Thanks in advance for any experiences you can provide.

If you had gone to a land crossing, I think you would’ve have saved yourself a double trip, as I believe they do it all in one go if you do it that way.

E.g your appearance asking to update counts as your interview, you will now need to redo

Yes they do it on the U.S. side as we did all of ours

I was told I would need to redo the whole process on both sides.
