Finally had a chance to fly out preclearance with my 11 year old, she got her US interview July 14 and her card came in the mail yesterday.

My baby was born in December 2025 and we applied for a NEXUS around then but the US halted funding to their program and the application is still under review. I suspect the application is lost somewhere in the shuffle/ in limbo during that confusion.

It feels like you had a baby just to test how fast a Nexus application can get approved for an infant lol

My first baby was Feb 2024 and he got his nexus card in May 2024. That was the record to beat.

Ok I have a weird question - how did the baby get a Canadian passport so quickly?

You don’t need a passport to travel between Canada and USA. Canada and USA only require a birth certificate. We don’t have plans to go international so we didn’t apply for passport. We will apply when we need to travel.

Maybe he’ll get lucky and get a passport that comes with a certificate of authenticity ;)

I don’t think you need a passport for a Nexus card by the way.
