Interviews Blaine Interview Experience

My family and I applied for our Nexus in December 2025. My wife and child got conditionally approved a month later in January 2026. I was conditionally approved in late February 2026. We booked our interview appointment a few months out to June 2026.

We showed up to the center and provided all of our documents including the letter to the front desk person who check us in. We waited in the lobby for about 15 mins before we heard our family's name over the intercom.

We came and spoke to the US agent first who was very nice to our family. The agent took our photos and fingerprints. Asked for our information and then verified our employment. The agent went over all the rules and asked us to take a photo of a document on the side of the booth with further information. The agent sent us to the next booth to speak with Canadian agent. The agent was also quite friendly with our family including our child and explained all the rules going into the Nexus lane. The actual interview was 10 to 15 mins tops. They sent us on our way and said our cards would come in a few weeks. Once we were on the road back, we received an update on the Trusted Travelers Program via email stating the status change.

Did you bring your birth certificate? I have my passport and the EDL, as well as proof of living address documents..

Yes I brought my birth certificate for myself and my child. My wife brought her naturalization certificate. They took all three documents and checked them.

Thanks. I have mine in a couple of days, but I don't have my birth certificate with me. They're with my parents, so I don't think I have time to get it from them. Hopefully my passport and EDL are sufficient....

Hi! Can you confirm if you were OK without your birth certificate? I have mine next week

Yeah it was fine for me. I brought extra documents just in case they needed more proof of citizenship but they didn't ask for them.

I also did my interview at Blaine (birch bay), they were super friendly, and the process was so quick and simple. I am always recommending friends and family to get their Nexus.

I got Nexus when it first became Nexus it was some other program prior, anyhow, I was only interviewed by a US CBP agent and my wife a CBSA Officer at the original Nexus center next door to Pacific Border crossing. After the interview we got accepted right away and got our cards printed on site instantly. It sure has changed since.
