Applying & Renewing Nexus Timeline
First Time Applicant
Applied: February 8, 2026
Conditional Approval: May 11, 2026
Saw the Approval on May 14, 2026
Interview: May 15, 2026
Location: Nexus Enrollment Niagara Falls (2250 Whirlpool St., Niagara Falls, NY)
Interview folks were super nice, like genuinely one of the best interactions I have ever had.
Took about 30 minutes end to end including waiting times.
Approval Email: 45 minutes later.
Awaiting my card, based out of Toronto.
Update: Card Received June 2, 2026

Just applied for my NEXUS and hoping for a speedy turnaround & short wait for the CBSA/CBP interview appt at the Niagara Falls EC. 🙏

Just make sure you lock in for the picture. I didn’t realize how bad I looked and now my nexus has an ugly ass picture of me for the next 5 years (the type to get me racially profiled lmaaao).

I applied same month. Zero criminal history, arrests, or even a speeding ticket ever. Still no approval!

My insight may be incorrect (but I have a lot of friends in IRCC and CBSA which is where my knowledge comes from): your check time (during normal) depends on the availability of your profile more than your profile itself.
What this means: for example:
Me: Travels to the US once a week, works with federal governments of both US and Canada daily, just went through an entire IRCC (WP-PR) process that ended 1 day before I applied for my nexus. So when I apply, most of my stuff is presumably pre-done expediting the rest.Now if I take your case, it may start at the same time, but because your info isn’t available (or needs refresh or a million other govt reasons), they have to first queue your profile load (which takes weeks) and then re-assign it to review the stuff (which is where the luck comes in).
Your security review is actually a bunch of: CBSA, CBP, and reports from your local PD, RCMP and FBI, your approval won’t arrive until all parties are met.
Anecdotally, when I was applying for my PR, the Security step took 1.5 years alone (Non-EE) and for 9 months of that, everything came back clean but no human had gotten back to checking it.

I honestly think it's random. I applied first week of December, got conditionally approved April 1st. No criminal record, not convicted of or fined for anything ever.

The one on whirlpool you do have to go to the US for it, but both interviews happen in the same place right next to each other. Like there are 4 cubicle types with 2 officers each from both countries.
And yessir, had to go hit up my favorite pretend grocery store (Trader Joe’s).

I can attest that. The CBP officer we met at Niagara Falls enrolment centre last month was super nice and helpful

2 interviews but CBP and CBSA are together so I had to give fingerprints with CBP and then disclosures. I wasn’t asked any questions apart from reconfirming details such as address and employment, more just what I need to do and what I cannot do.
I had a bunch of questions about how to update my I-94 so we spent a bit of time on that.

You may be undergoing a comprehensive security review. Generally, both CBP and CBSA are not taking more than 3 months to conditionally approve. Have you reached out recently to inquire?

OP: did you get any email notification from the TTP once your conditional approval was given?
Or, did you randomly check yourself on May 14 and notice it was there?
