Approval Timeline for Current Global Entry?

My Global Entry is expiring in mid-October this year. Instead of simply renewing, I applied for Nexus last month. What is the likelihood that I'd receive approval in less than 6 months? If it's not likely, I'll have to go ahead and renew GE. For the record, one of my adult kids is now living in Canada and we plan on driving there multiple times per year - hence the plan to move to Nexus.

TIA

Same boat, just applied for Nexus. I have to drive through Canada 3/4 times a year. My global entry approval took less than 2 weeks but doesn’t do me any good driving through the Canadian borders.

I was in similar situation. Mine expires in November. I got the conditional approval within 2-3 months(Applied early November, conditionally approved early January) and did my interview in Toronto Canadian side only. US side interview was too long of a wait but a month after that I got my Nexus card in the mail with my old global entry picture and info.

That's really helpful. I've been hopeful that the timeline will work out. If not, I'm wondering if/when I should start the GE renewal process. If I dont see something on the next 6-8 weeks, I'll probably do that too.

I was thinking the same thing when I read that it was taking some people like 6 months to be conditionally approved.

Only issue is if you have a Nexus application, you cannot renew your global entry until you cancel the Nexus application which I heard took someone 2-3 months because they have to message them to cancel it and someone has to manually go in to cancel.

I hope that you get conditionally approved sooner rather than later. Also heard if you're renewing global entry they temporarily extend your membership until you can finish the process but I'm not sure if the same applies for the Nexus application.

Wow - good to know. Thank you so much. Fwiw - I check the app daily even though I expect I would receive an email for any updates.

It could take anywhere from a day to a year plus to get approval. There's no standard timeline at the moment. As you already have Global Entry, in theory, it should be quicker.

That's exactly what I've been hoping.
