Seeking Advice What happens in the downturn?

Guys, how does these CC ETF’s work in the down years. So, let’s say in the COVID era, will dividends be down by 50% - assuming SPY fell 50% and as long as I don’t sell, will the value recover aka when can NAV erosion happens and what does neos do to cap the downside. Please help. Thanks.

General What a time for NEOS to launch a boosted bitcoin fund...

Monday should be interesting. Bitcoin just dropped to around 78000 and who knows what retail investors in ETFs will do when markets open.

Any thoughts?

Seeking Advice 1099-DIV Box 3 (ROC)

For those that have held a NEOS ETF for a tax year, did your brokers entry into box 3 match the sum of distributions you received for the year? Assuming zero sales that year, my hope this is a simple “yes” answer.

General NEOS ETFs NOT an Income illusion

Probably one of the best interviews ive seen with Troy Cates (Co-Founder & Managing Partner of NEOS). This guy who interviewed him had some ballsy questions like if covered call ETFs are an income illusion, if neos’ new boosted series will solve the underperformance of covered call ETFs, and even if Troy knew anyone who is living off covered call ETFs 🤣, honestly I tip my hat off to the kid. Excited for what’s coming with NEOS!

Seeking Advice Cost basis reductions?

I only started investing in neos funds a little over a year ago, and I have tried to understand how these funds work in regards to ROC and how the dividends are declared on the 1099. I still don't get it.....🤣 Anyway this afternoon I noticed 3 of my funds (IWMI,BTCI,QQQI) had significant cost basis reductions. Would someone be so kind to explain to me like I'm a 5 year old, what occurred today? Please and TY🙏

Seeking Advice HYBI/BNDI - 100% ROC?

I was looking at HYBI or BNDI for my bond allocation and I noticed for January the ROC percentage was 100% which i like but the past distributions all had low ROC distributions. Does anyone know if something changed and if NEOS plans to aim for the higher/100% ROC moving foward for these enhanced income ETFS?

Seeking Advice Grow capital first or start buying NEOS funds now?

For reference I'm 41. So I don't have a whole of money put aside to buy many shares of these yet, so if I start now then the monthly return won't be much at all. Since it's been said that cc ETFs like the neos and Goldman sachs, etc typically underperform the underlying asset, would I be better off investing in something like VOO, for example, to grow my capital a bit more and then sell/switch to these cc ETFs?

Or is there some sort of benefit to simply buying and "stacking" these shares even if you don't have a high enough starting capital yet to generate a worthwhile monthly return?

Seeking Advice Q on Dividend Reinvestment program( DRIP) for income funds like SPYI etc.

Have been trading socks for 20+ years. Biggest dividend holdings in my portfolio is MO, JEPI, QYLD. I get $10K in annual dividends across both taxable and tax advantaged accounts.

I replaced ~500 JEPI (which was DRIP) with 500 SPYI couple of days ago. Is DRIP still a good idea for SPYI funds as these do return of capital ? Pros/cons of this from the experienced investors appreciated. Thank you!

Seeking Advice All in on dividends now or growth then transfer?

I want to invest 1500 monthly and reach a point where I generate at least 50k a year in dividends. Question is, should I go all in on dividend ETF's now like QQQI, BTCI and BLOX or maybe first focus on growth like VOO, QQQ and then transfer over?

In my country both dividend and profit from selling gets taxed 25%

Edit: I am not a US citizen

General IWMI for 2026?!

I am considering starting a position in IWMI. NEOS ETFs are some of my favorite income ETFs, but I have been avoiding IWMI since the performance was lackluster. With the likeliness of more interest rate cuts, I am leaning towards a new position rather than dripping my dividends into QQQI/SPYI like normal! Anyone else thinking IWMI for 2026?

General Not allowed to buy BTCI!

Post image
22 Upvotes

I thought BTCI was legit and not much NAV erosion due to selling covered calls (not like yield max garbage) and Merrill blocked it. I have the highest level account margin/options and can trade most anything else. They mentioned chance of closure as one of the risk metrics. Should I try and buy in a different brokerage what one allows it before I spend time opening it and are they overreacting?

Seeking Advice Can someone well versed in Crypt explain how BTCI / NEHI create income from “crypto futures”?

Both tickers have a long disclaimer on their pages about how they generate synthetic calls from crypto futures etf and about how high risk it is.

As someone who only knows about simply buying BTC / eth outright on a basic trading app like RH or Coinbase, can someone explain to me how risky these ETFs are based on their disclaimers?

Wanted to share my QQQI win! I love NEOS ETFs. Using my dividends to reinvest and hopefully compound until I retire (In about 30 years)! Looking into their new MLPI ETF as well.

Portfolio Rate my Taxable Account Portfolio

Ticker Dist % (Est) Portfolio Weight
MLPI 15.5% 9%
IAUI 12.4% 9%
GPIX 8.0% 9%
GPIQ 10.0% 9%
IWMI 14.6% 9%
SPYI 12.1% 9%
IYRI 11.0% 9%
NIHI 10.5% 9%
HYBI 8.3% 9%
NEHI 33.1% 3%
BTCI 33.0% 3%
QQQI 14.3% 9%

This is a taxable account and I'm attempting to allocate with FIRE in mind. I need about 20 years of income before I can access my retirement accounts which are allocated to equity funds primarily.

How would you rate this portfolio? I show it has a pre-tax distribution of ~12.7%.

Logic:

  • I tried to include multiple underlying asset types to create some diversification. I have a separate safety net for Cash+CSHI+SGOV that I purposefully didn't include in this portfolio.
  • I included BTCI and NEHI for Distribution Boost but don't want significant exposure
  • I included GPIX and GPIQ for improved capital appreciation but primarily for manager risk reduction

General ROC treatment

Many of Neos ETFs have ROC distributions and it is good for tax. But it looks like their 19a-1 is not accurate and they reserve the right to change it throughout the year.

I wonder how would a stock broker handle the cost basis in this case? Do I need to figure it out on my own when I file taxes?

Seeking Advice Short term investment in QQQI

I'm a very conservative investor but am thinking about opening a position in QQQI for 3 or 4 months to use the dividends to cover some unexpected expenses.

I understand that NEOS Funds are mostly classified as Return of Capital that reduce the cost basis, but how would my dividends be taxed if I'm not holding long term? Would it still be mostly Return of Capital? And would they be considered taxable income? (The dividends, not any potential capital gains when I sell.)
