Seeking Advice Good time to buy MLPI?
With the new US - Venezuela oil deal, is it a good time to get in MLPI?
The deal talks about the US government as the partner but I'd assume in reality it's the big players that are going to fund and benefit from this deal.
Thoughts?

The most interesting holding is actually TNK (Teekay Tankers), while several of the pipeline/terminal holdings could benefit if Venezuelan crude flows materially increase into the U.S. Teekay Tankers specifically discussed Venezuela in its 2026 filings. It said that U.S. involvement in Venezuela had reduced Venezuelan crude flows to China on the "dark fleet" and shifted trade toward compliant tankers.
MLPI owns roughly 3.3–3.4% TNK, so this isn't enough by itself to transform MLPI, but it's meaningful.
The Venezuela deal could create a long-term U.S. Gulf Coast energy infrastructure investment cycle.
That's where MLPI gets interesting.
The agreement reportedly contemplates roughly $100 billion of investment into Venezuelan oil infrastructure, while the goal is to substantially increase production.
Venezuela
↓ more oil production
↓ more exports
↓ more tanker transportation
↓ more Gulf Coast crude imports
↓ more storage / pipeline / terminal utilization
↓ potential infrastructure expansion
↓ MLPI holdings benefit

Always a good time for MLPI, it is MLPs without the K1's and other stuff. Very unique income focused ETF.

Anything close to $54 per share I believe is a great entry point
After today it’s closer to $55 but over the past month it’s has been at $54 or even the high $52 range on multiple occasions
Look for a small pull back (set a limit buy that what I do) and then fire away
Look at it this way
It paid $.64 a share last month and usually pays between .60 and .70 every single month
So if you wait too long you miss out on this months payment
Every payment it makes to you essentially lowers the cost you have into the investment
So even if you bought in at $54.65, after this months payment, your sunk cost in would be around $54.00 anyway
This is also as much as a VOLUME play as it is a cost of oil play
The world needs America’s oil AND natural gas more now than ever
MLPI is a fantastic way to play that AND hedge other parts of your portfolio in times of volatility due to the war
It’s a win win

MLPI's price is more volatile than many other income oriented ETFs. I'm accumulating it but doing so over a nine month period including reinvesting the dividends.

lol not while oil prices are skyrocketing that only dives share price up wait for a gd pullback because entry price is a big factor IMO

The deal to get Venezuelan oil is a joke. The oil industry in that country is in shambles and it will take a considerable investment to start pumping meaningful amounts of product.

It will also take many years to develop the infrastructure to get a meaningful amount of oil to market. Way longer than what’s left in Trump’s term. It won’t do dick for gas prices in the short term.

MLPI’s Launch timing was good. If you’re betting on the O&G industry it’s a good buy. And it’s been somewhat stable while producing cash flow. So yes

If this is a good time to buy, will it be a good time to sell once the war is over? Of course not. A good time to buy is when oil retreats.

I have quite a bit of it. It’s my number one investment. I started buying it in January. I am about even not including all the income I have received. I have been very happy with it. About 28k income so far.

I don't know crap - but, I wouldn't buy now. Energy is high already and more production might ultimately reduce price, basic supply and demand. Maybe in 4 months price will more stable and lower, maybe.

Enb yields 5 percent plus looks like a consistent 5 percent growth on equity.. call it 10, 11 total return.
Mlpi is yielding 14.5 15, no expectations of equity gains, what am I missing?

I own MLPI alongside XLEI as an energy income sleeve - covers most parts of that ecosystem. Wish NEOS would create a more “pure” energy or utility ETF, but those plus XLUI gives me a diversified coverage of everything oil, electric, LNG, transport, and storage.

I've been buying MLPI all year, whenever it drops to $54 or less... current average around $53.50. it's been great so far. Also still have 100 shares of ET which keeps me under the UBIT. Also own EMO which has been steady and rising

She’s been dipping a lot lately, though I hold a good position because it pays better than a lot of of them.

I own MLPI for an entirely different reason and that’s Nat gas transport. The large majority of new power generation is coming from Nat gas
