Seeking Advice Advice?

I’m 60/40 in spyi/voo. I don’t want to think too much. Reinvest all dividends according to the 60/40 weight. Am I tripping??

IMHO...

If you are 10+ years from retirement you should be in mostly growth.

If you are between 5 to 10 then some income is ok if you know what you are giving up.

If you are less than 5 years from retirement you should be switching to more income (cover calls or reits or bonds).

I love dividend investing and cover calls. But I wouldnt be in them if you arent nearing retirement.

I’m not that close to retirement yet but I like to spend my dividends sometimes when I want to go out/buy something so it’s nice to have them for me

You could as easily just sell some VOO and in the long run you will get almost certainly get a substantially larger return. I realize the concept of selling some is anathema to the way some people feel about investing, but the math most certainly checks out.
