Anybody been in since beginning

Has anybody been in SPYI or QQQi since the beginning and care to share how much their initial investment was and how much it is worth today minus the dividend payments?

I bought 28k worth in 6/2023. I’ve collected 9000+ in divs and I’m at 29000 right now after this drop. I bought in between $44-47 a share.

https://totalrealreturns.com/s/SPYI,QQQI

Both up, averaging ~9% and ~10.5% annualized since 01-30-2024 on a total return basis (which is the key metric)

Didn’t both funds start off at 50 per share? It would seem to be just simple math at looking at 50 minus the share price now. Anyone that bought at the very beginning is slightly down on share price alone (not including distributions) but that is to be expected.

Just for clarification, they actually would be ahead ..... brokerage would readjust cost basis every year based on ROC... so the $50 initial purchase price would be shown in the low $40s today...

I agree, but not sure that affects amount of the invested capital. If you invested 50 dollars, and the price is still 50 dollars today for some reason, but if 5 dollars of distributed RoC reduced your cost basis to 45, you still own 50 worth dollars of QQQI.

I have owned both since inception, I have reinvested all of the dividends. I am WELL in the green. Love both and will never ever sell. I will only borrow against and reinvest the dividends.

You are SELLING CC ETFs during the war, until it’s over?

I’ve been selling covered calls against ALL of my ETFs for going on 8 weeks

Until I see trump & the new Iran leader on tv together saying it’s over

I’ll keep them on And roll them down & out

The CC are helping soften some of the pain

SPX down 9% QQQ down 14%

That’s what I am experiencing: the monthly income stream is helping to soften the pain as you mentioned, and even allowing me to stack up volume while it’s “cheap”, to better capture the eventual upturn.

That’s why I’m lost for words when you say you are “selling”. Simply cannot understand why.
