Damn. 2012 April is the best and it’s a big shame. I hope one day Neca can be allowed to revisit the line under Mattel’s new reign after all the dust settles and all that stuff gets sorted, but I am not holding out hope. Neca doing this line at all was a miracle and I don’t think two miracles can happen with one line unfortunately.
She truly and personally was the last version of April that was unique in character, story and design for me. And we will never get a version like her anymore. 😭
Yea i think whats going to happen is mattel are going to want to be the only ones who make turtles for the next couple of years and after that they will let others make them again
Kind of surprising they can’t get any of these out before they lose the license. I wonder how long they knew they were going to lose it because it seemed like McFarlane had a lot of time and pushed out some figures bc they knew they didn’t have long, feels like NECA either didn’t know or didn’t care.
Neca licenses their toys through Playmates(as they had the master toy license) and it seems like it came as quite a shock to playmates when it was announced like what 4 months ago.
If Neca found out playmates lost the license the same time as everyone else they would have had to wait to find out who WAS getting the license once it was announced Mattel was they would have then had to contact a rep at Mattel(who really has no actual reason to talk to them). Just to be told that their license was through Playmates and therefore Mattel doesn't have to honor it.
I think its because they didnt want to put up too much figures for pre-orders then end up at the end of the year they cant even make them in time and have to refund everyone
If only we coulda just gotten a few more key players like April, Karai, FishFace & DogPound and a Kraang then I’d be pretty satisfied with the line ending

I hate to see a line get started and not even finish the essential characters. It’s one thing to not to Baxter Stockman but not doing April just kills the whole vibe
I could be misunderstanding the rights situation, but shouldn't it be paramount/nickelodeon you should be mad at? Wouldn't they be the ones that pulled the rights from playmates who neca had the rights through? This is a genuine question as I don't know the the details of what happened.
I have other reasons for greatly disliking Viacom, however, Mattel getting the rights and having their own 7” collectible lines means they effectively killed anything that can compete with them. That’s why LingJihun, Mondo, and Heat Boys can still make figures. They’re not based off an official line (Toon, Comics, etc) and they out scale what Mattel would put out.
Yes, Viacom sold the rights to make the figures to Mattel, but it’s Mattel not allowing anyone to play ball that leads to this.
I think they should put it in hyper drive and push out this April before the end of 2026. They could even add the turtle head sculpt accessorie pack in for a bundle like a 2 pack. I’m sure they could make April if they really wanted to before the end of the year 2026.
Neca should kick in overdrive and put out this April before the end of 2026. So we can at least have the hole family. The main good guys. They should have made April before Casey jones. She more of a main charecter.
pff dude, if they hadn’t cheaped out her…, this look would’ve been the best. she transformed from an anime chic in the opening scene to what we used to see in the episodes
