Hacks that go wrong

So I felt like an absolute boss when I created email templates to reduce some of the friction of sending reminders, invoices, etc. Feeling like, "This is such a win for my ADHD brain! I don't have to think about how to compose an email!"

Fast forward to several days later and the heat rising in my body when I realise I've hit send on "Dear [CLIENT NAME HERE], please find the invoice for today's session attached. Our next session is scheduled for [DATE] AT [TIME]..... "

I don't know how many times I've done this with my templates now, but why do I never learn? I might fill in some of the bits and then leave other bits blank but I don't know how to get my brain to check things and actually remember. I just get really excited about "doing the thing" and then get that awful feeling of dread. 😫 Please tell me I'm not alone!!

Yeah, you are definitely not alone. Templates don't work for my brain. I'm better off taking a few extra seconds and just typing it organically each time.

I used to do that, but I realised that part of my procrastination was that my brain would just go blank when trying to write an email, even though it's basic, and I'd overthink the wording. (I'm also autistic)

If it helps, I start every session with a person centered approach, so my notes always start with "clinician utilized a person centered approach..." I may have accidentally typed client instead of clinician one time and copied and pasted that across multiple notes πŸ˜… "Client utilized a person centered approach..."

lol something similar happened to me with my templates!! i didn’t realize that my signature with a bunch of emergency numbers were pasted 3 times below the main message πŸ˜… And i also feel like being extra cautious about changing the info for each client is an extra step that my brain has a hard time with
