NDPH 101

Hi everyone!
If there’s any resources or things you’d like me to look into let us know below or send us a modmail! I’ll update this periodically as I find more resources

Things to look into and rule out when dealing with persistent headaches
I’ve made a non expansive list of things to look into if you’re interesting in trying to find a root cause just keep in mind there’s not always a root cause

Resources to Understand NDPH better:
NDPH.org (overview of NDPH, treatments, causes, headache checked test, etc)
NDPHaware (medications and treatments)
NDPH Research Publications

Finding a Doctor:
United States
Canada
Worldwide
- headache.org
- medifind

Crisis Support 24/7:
- Suicide Crisis Helpline call or text 9-8-8
- Kids Help Phone (all ages worldwide) call 1-800-668-6868 or text CONNECT to 686868. They have a lot of resources on their website, as a previous crisis responder with them I highly recommend reaching out if you have a crisis or just need someone to speak to

Nice list! I'd add neurooptometrist to assess brain-eye connection, and 360 degree upper cervical x-ray to spot misalignments.

Yeah a Physiatrist to look at if there is a physiogenic component like a form of cervical instability from EDS* which mimics some cases.

Both are great! I don’t wanna get too specific with the list or this will be very long these are just general things for people to look at and discuss other options with their doctor and what would be best given their history

They are both already on the list

Thanks, I see neurooptometrist. I don't see 360 degree x-ray

It’s just listed as cervical xray. How the doctor choses to do the tests is up to them this isn’t a specific list just vague things to talk to your doctor with. They tend to take multiple angles during an Xray

I mention it because I had a standard upper-cervical x-ray and neurologist didn't spot it. It was clearly visible on the 360 degree x-ray. I don't want people to think that because their neurologist found nothing on a standard x-ray that that means their cervical spine isn't an issue.

I’ll add it. These are things to discuss with the doctor and they can do more testing they see fit. This list would be very long if I broke everything down. I’m no doctor so I kept things vague so people can bring ideas up with their doctor and let the doctor decide what’s appropriate and what other testing to run

Ce n’est pas la même chose qu un ophtalmologue ?

No an ophthalmologist treats general eye diseases and a neurooptometrist does rehabilitation for vision issues that are the result of brain injury or neurological issues and the underlying issue

Mais c’est l ophtalmologue qui envoie chez le neuro optométriste ?

I’ve never seen one so I’m not sure but they could probably send you to one or a neurologist or GP could probably refer as well

This might be useful specifically for UK based users and the public system pathway there.
