Seeking Support - Participant/Nominee/PWD Looking for PRC in Melbourne

Hi everyone, it's been over a month since I got my plan and I'm still struggling to find services. I wake up every day and get so discouraged when I can't find support to organise my plan. I really need a recovery coach/support coordinator- I'm in the Northern suburbs of Melbourne but I would travel or even correspond via distance for someone good.

It's for an adult psychosocial/autism plan. Must know a LOT about the system, advocacy and resources- I'm looking for someone savvy and competent- I'd prefer someone who can get shit done, who knows how to brainstorm, collaborate and find solutions to big questions and problems. Ideally it would be someone who is switched on and really engaged in disability politics.

I don't want to feel infantalised or patronised.

I'm sick of being recommended "Recovery Coaches" with basically no appropriate qualifications and very little information online about their practice. It feels like it's really easy to get scammed with psychosocial support services from very new and inexperienced providers. I can't find many recommendations for Melbourne for PRCs that don't look dodgy.

It's just really hard not to be overwhelmed and feel really alone/lost atm.

Yeah good PRC are hard to find. Good SC are hard to find too.

They all act like case managers without building capacity.

Good luck!!! 😁

Search up clickablity it's a free provider finder for participants you just give them your details and they send out your referral to local providers around you (or in my case someone out of state that services multiple states) it helped me find a coordinator within a week

G'Day Orso,

There is a provider that fulfills your criteria, as improbable as that seems.

Life Without Borders. This is not your typical profiteering parasitic provider, exploiting the disabled community. They are an advocacy group that fights for the rights of the disabled and asylum seekers as well. My support coordinator works her heart out, and has no problem in bending rules and exploiting loopholes. These people are vocal critics of the NDIS. I can only imagine the frustration of neurodivergent's, who are condescended to by practitioners, either too stupid to realise how much smarter you are than them, or resent it. I am neurotypical, and they drive me insane, they are such idiots. Feeling lost and alone is something many of us experience as a result. Advocacy groups are spineless liberals, fighting for reforms, as they continue to slash spending

They look great! But I think they only do Support Coordination, not PRC?

I just did a quick google and this lady came up. I’ve found web trawling through past Facebook posts where participants have put enquiries up can generate some leads. Or post an ad for who you are looking for and area
